Model Master Turbine Bronze Lacquer

Help! I am in need of a can of Testors discontinued Turbine Bronze Lacquer. Had several cans that I unfortunately had to leave behind when we moved back in 2022. 

Now I'm wanting to build a stable mate to the "Penniless" Dart that I built back in 2009, and,of course, there is none to be found!☹️

Honestly, you want Scalefinishes Turbine Bronze.

I painted this interior shell with it, great match to factory.

The problem with the Testors lacquer cans is that they are all old now, and are almost all leaking from the seams. So there is little or no pressure inside, and the clear carrier is what is leaking so the mixture is off - meaning you would have to decant and airbrush it anyway, and who knows how it would come out or if there would be enough; the leaked cans are much lighter in weight than the full ones.

That is the route I would go if  I were able to use my airbrush. Unfortunately, I am now an apartment dweller, and cannot do any painting inside the building.... All paint work must be done in the parking lot, using  rattle cans.

As for the Testors paints, I only had problems with a few cans ever leaking.... As a matter of fact, I still have cans... Phoenician Yellow, Wimbledon White, Big Bad Blue, and Plum Crazy, none of which show signs of leaking.... Guess I just got lucky.... Of course none are the color I'm wanting.

I unfortunately can't help with the color here, but, if you are in an apartment, buy a paint booth. It vents right out a window, and you can paint inside with very little fumes. They're relatively cheap on ebay and Amazon! Find a booth with dual fans and you can use rattle cans indoors. Life saver for me!

Again, I cannot spray inside the apartment. It's part of the lease.

So no, airbrush and paint booth are not options that will work at this time.

I know that I had some at one time, but I can't find them now. They were probably the first cans to blow out. I went through the stash yesterday and threw away another 16 bad cans of various colors of MM lacquer.

Marty look into one of these a friend has one it works good.  Amazon has them for about $30.

What part of "It's part of the Lease" is hard to understand?

 I checked my stash Marty. I do not have any. And Like others, I had to dich 4 more cans myself.

Doesn't MCW Put paint in spray cans? Or was that somebody else. I remember seeing the ads in SAE years ago.

I don't know if MCW offers aerosols at the moment, but he does have a contact us on his page where one could ask.  Ass regards the portable airbrush, whether the poster meant it or not, it could be used as one would use a shaker can as no power source is needed when spraying.  I have one for small jobs.  It charges via USB and I can connect an airbrush hose with the brush to it and use it wherever.  Ideally a booth is helpful, but not necessary.  No control of PSI, so you get what you get.  It works well for my uses.  This is the one I use:

Another option if the aerosol is not available would be the Preval Spray System.  You load the bottle with the airbrush ready paint and spray as a shaker can.

There are small bottle options for the Preval if you go that route.  But I would recommend first considering the portable airbrush.  You can attach existing airbrushes you own.  I personally use one of my Iwata's with it.

That thing is neat! Put the mini compressor in your pocket or a belt loop, go to the parking lot, and fire away. I think we have a winner.

One portable airbrush system on the way..... Supposed to be delivered by the weekend!

Hopefully the compressor will be enough to push my Grex T5... If not, I also have an ancient paasche that was Dad's.

It'll run my Iwata HP-BS, so, hopefully, it will run the Grex.
