Chopped 1934 Ford 5 window coupe body

Recommended Posts

Here are the latest mock-up photos that Lee Elliott shared with me on the progress of his Drag City Casting '34 Ford coupe build! I suggested that he could easily put the door hinges back in place on the resin body and he thought the same! I remove them from all of my body masters in order to get longevity out of the molds. If left on the hinges would tear up the molds in short order with each casting that is demolded. I can't wait to see this one in paint!

Just to add to the chorus here, I bought one of these castings a few months ago just after Ed introduced it, and it is as near a flawless piece of work as you could possibly imagine.  Highly, highly recommended.

Plus, Ed explained to me (perhaps better than any other caster I have spoken to on this) why resin-based bodies tend go out of production and seldom return to the market.  Bottom line?  You want it, you buy it now (my words, not Ed's) or you (and I) may regret it later!

Cheers...TB

I have a lot of old resin bodies around, from Ed, a Ron Cash chopped '40 Ford and so on. Also a flawless '48 Ford coupe from Perry's Resin. He made great stuff, haven't seen him around in at least 15 years. Modelhaus, he made more later products, he is still kickin' but no longer casting. His son took over the wheel and tire business.

Not sure how much traffic this area of the board gets.

You would think it would get a fair amount of traffic since it revolves around the aftermarket stuff for cars. I guess more people are on social media platforms these days then here?

Nah, there's still plenty of traffic on this forum, but I don't think people venture down to this area as heavily since it's further down the main page. There's also not a heavy hot rod presence here. My rough estimation is that hot rods make up about 10% of the threads in the Bench section.

The last part of what you surmise seems to make much more sense to me now that you mention it.

I can't believe a week has gone by since my last post and not a single person has commented on that neat little yellow coupe above?! LOL!

I was too busy trying to keep the drool off of my keyboard to reply.

That coupe is gorgeous!

I thought the yellow version of the 554 car was an excellent build and a nice example of what can be built with Ed's body.   Question for Ed, do you sell your resin anywhere besides your facebook page ? The old photo site page I used doesn't work anymore.

I am not really selling my product anywhere other than through the Drag City Casting Facebook page or direct through e-mail if I am contacted that way. My e-mail address is all over the web.........and hasn't changed in 20 years. Here's the Fotki link again........Bob moved things around recently which is why the old link might not be working for you. You will find my contact info at the top of the page in this link.  https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/drag-city-casting-/
