Machining graphics

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody. I am currently working on building the Lindberg 1938 Ford custom van (delivery) for my college instructor. I am currently studying Machine Tool Technology at my local Community college. My question is what kinds of graphics could I put on the model that would relate to machining?

How about some lettering such as;

Matt's Machine Shop (or, Matt's Precision Machining, or Velocity Machining, or some other name)
Full service machine shop, including;
- Surface & Cylindrical Grinding
- Horizontal Boring
- Dynamic Balancing
- Heat Treating
- Shaft Straightening
- Dimensional Inspection Services
(phone number & location)

... Or something to that effect. Choose the services you like.

I don’t know if any of these are copyrighted, but something similar maybe? Google machine shop graphics:images. You should see lots of possibilities.

Also, see the thread above about making decals.

"Engine turning" is a decorative finish for metal parts, usually done with a mill or a lathe.

A large graphic stripe entirely engine-turned would be pretty cool.

It was popular on vintage machines, and is still sometimes featured on hot-rods.

you could have a lot of options depending on how far you want to go. it could be tools as letters or you could go more mini truck style and have the lettering appear engraved or stamped. i like bills idea though, but i'd use it on the trim rather than as a graphic and luckily its available on nail art foil rolls. its a little thicker than bmf and needs burnished down more and cleared, and the only way i've found it is by buying the assorted packs of 50 from china but they're really cheap
