Not the wagon but the two-door hardtop. It is my favourite car and so I was hoping to build my dream car out of it but since it's a JoHan model and the company doesn't exist, re-issues would never happen so finding an original 1960 Plymouth kit may be challenging. I noticed there is a couple 1960 Plymouth kits built on this forum, so I was hoping to have one as well. Would also be my first JoHan kit, too.

If anyone knows where abouts of such a kit within driveable range,(Sault Michigan and surrounding area, or Sault Ontario and surrounding area) and one that is within affordible price range (a '68 Eldo JoHan kit at our local junk shop is going for $300!) would anyone let me know? I would deeply appreciate it.

All those photos, and not one good, clear look at the Front End. I'd expect damage to the grille, since it is never shown.

That's possible I guess. I did not catch that. I just threw out the first auction that I saw trying to help the guy find what he needed.

They can be found on ebay. That one is built, but it looks complete and could be stripped down and rebuilt to fit your needs. $60 bucks.

1/25 JO HAN 1960 PLYMOUTH FURY CUSTOMIZING #2360:140 BUILT VINTAGE MODEL KIT | eBay

I saw that one, and another one that came with the box, yesterday, I would imagine I could strip it down to bare plastic and build it up from scratch, but I wouldn't want to get into some bidding war over something that may not be all it appears to be, as it appears to have 6 bids on it already. There's a silver one that is just "Buy Now" the same price, though it appears to have less pieces, and in crappier condition. May just have to wait; not in a hurry to find one.

I would take a hard pass on any build of that vintage, that has been painted gold, unless I can check it out in person first.

My experience has been that many must have been painted with some sort of hot hardware store gold paint that damaged and winkled the plastic.

No, it's not always the case, but I have been burned enough times to be extremely wary.

A lot of good suggestions and cautions, I appreciate it guys. What would be neat to have happen is if AMT bought the rights to the JoHan molds (sorta like when Hot Wheels bought Matchbox) and re-issued all the old kits; just because it seems JoHan made kits that other Model companies didn't make, and since the brand isn't around anymore, there's a whole other side of car kits that some modelers may never build, because all that's left are original 50+ year old kits, and not many of them.

There are no "rights" to buy. 99% of the Johan tooling is long gone. If AMT (R2) or any other company were to produce anything from that era all they need are licenses from the perspective auto manufacturers.

Ditto for copper in that era as well.

The paint's a gamble, but the grille is not a huge issue.

The '60 Plymouth wagon has the same grille, and they're much easier to find.

Parts for the wagon pop up quite regularly.

Personally, I might take the chance on the gold built-up, as long as the price didn't go much higher.

This kit is quite rare, and finding anything in better shape is going to mean more money.

Possibly a lot more!

The gold paint isn't necessarily a killer.

My '67 Pontiac was painted gold and it stripped very easily.

You never really know until it's in your hand.

I got my '60 Plymouth some years ago pretty cheap.

But that was back when you could still get these kits for less than their weight in gold!

Those are such beautiful models you have there; that '60 plymouth was one of the ones on the forum that I saw and made me aware of the hardtop kit. Lots of good advice about the kit I'm looking for; I'll see what I can do on my end to make this happen. May just have to wait a little; not in a hurry to find one

Those early Jo-Han annuals were always tough to find.  Heck, even the later ones were tough too.  Being a WAY smaller producer, and seemingly being more difficult to deal with, meant that the bigger department stores that moved the biggest numbers of kits in those days didn't bother to stock Jo-Han.

Definitely a challenge, I knew that was going to be. The way I see it, I'd be satisfied if at least one of three things happen: 1) I do find the JoHan kit and build my dream car, 2) I get my hands on a Sunstar 1:18 scale '60 Plymouth, as there are plenty of those about, or 3) if I can find the 1:1 car to own and drive; last year one went for sale here in Ontario for $21,000; a red four-door '60 Fury with a 6 cylinder. Though all three choices seem relatively hard to get a hold of.

I have a built one that's not a horrible glue bomb. It's available for trade. If you're interested let me know and I'll take some pictures.

Stuff I would be interested in as a trade would be Chrysler slant 6 engines, non-stock intake setups or intakes and carbs and stacks from Sprint car kits. Any type of side draft Weber carb setup. As far as complete kits Go the only complete kit I'm really looking for is one of the modern style four-door chargers but would consider any offer

I may be interested in the model, but I would have to see it; maybe put some pictures on this topic so I can see it?

Evidently I will have to dig it out. I want to get it out to take pictures and it wasn't where I thought it was. Hopefully I'll be able to find it
