  • thatz4u changed the title to Coming Soon from Atomic City's JoHan line of new kits

I spent last Friday and Saturday with the guys at Atomic City JoHan. I have known Jack for 40 years now!!! I saw the convertible version and it was better than injection plastic. Clean with a finish surface not even Modelhaus had and I thought theirs was perfect!

They said they were going to have a new version soon......and it's more than just a body added to this kit.

Do they have a website?

They have a Facebook page. They communicate fairly quickly via FB, place orders and pay with Pay Pal (at least I did for my two trailers).

Glad to see so much interest, they will be for sale when they have the kits in stock, I was told no preorders...

So, I'll bite. What exactly IS the kit that New Jo-Han are producing? Is it injection molded plastic, traditional cast resin, or 3d printed resin? Is it a full kit or a transkit? Is it a full detail kit or curbside? Is it meant to replicate a vintage Jo-Han kit or is the detail reflective of modern standards?

If all you need to have a kit launch is a picture of a real vehicle and a pseudo-vintage label then stand back because I'm about to make IMC the most exciting brand in vintage sports car kits again for the first time in five decades!

Then undoubtedly you'll pick the most interesting subjects, and then make the kits so difficult to build that there will be vast numbers of kits sitting in drawers and partly glued if not thrown against walls.

Absolutely! Complete with fascinating and plausible but still inaccurate engine options like GT40's powered by the Indy Four-Cam.

Don't knock them if you haven't seen them in person....

I have the Convertible version of this kit I bought from Atomic City. It is a modified promo that is a very cleanly done white resin casting. If you have bought from Missing Link,  or Replicas and Miniatures Co.of MD,  that is the quality of the casting.  However, there is no chrome plated parts, so you're on your own for that. The glass is vacuum formed,  and metal axles are included.

I am very satisfied with my purchase, and Atomic City's customer service is top notch.  These kits are not cheap, but reasonably priced for what you get, as they're much less expensive than an original Johan Kit, or decent promo. The number produced on the Convertible was very limited,  and sold out quickly,  on a first come, first served basis. You can buy with confidence,  as the Facebook posting was very accurate.

My kit came carefully packed, ready for cleaning and finishing.  I noticed no flash on mine either.

Knowing how vast the gulf can be on resin between the stuff I've got from C1 and the stuff I've got from Flintstone, rather glad to hear it's closer to the former than the latter.

But now we all know we're talking about a promo style resin curbside which the initial post made absolutely no effort to explain. I'm certainly not opposed to Jo-Han coming back as a short run resin company, but I feel that if we're announcing their products then it should explained what those products actually are.

A picture of the actual product would be great.

To be fair to Al, the post they made on FB didn't have any effort to explain either.  It was just a picture of the real car (as reposted here) with a mumble about bucket seats and "more information later, no waiting list".

The target buyer for these kits is 80% old Mossy Horns who are too Savvy to be roped. The rest are Younger.

That said, despite the Glowing Recommendation by Ron Hamilton a name I have recognized & trusted for years, this Facebook Only, Coy Statements, and Big Talk, is insulting to wary buyers who have been burned by other companies with Lots of Big Talk, and terrible Follow Through.

Are You offering Ultra High Quality, resin replicas, of Long Lost Johan kits? Great! Show Us the contents of your kits. Doing business on Facebook without a Website gives the impression that you can't or won't do so. Hardly a way to build trust. There are reasonably useful Free Websites, I think you should use one. If 17 year girls on Tik Tok can get websites, you should too.

I have read most of what has been posted of this Board about Atomic City. It sounds like Great Guys, with good ideas. But business wise, some body doesn't seem to paying attention. Teaser photos are acceptable, but Tell us what It is, more than just identifying the car.

"A Detailed Resin Copy of a rare Johan Kit, This Curbside Kit Contains all the parts needed to assemble the car shown."

21 Words, One Comma, One Period. Does what it needs.

Good Luck.

Agreed 128%, @stavanzer. A lot of these cats need serious help with marketing and graphic design. As insiders, they know what they're cooking up. They have to communicate that to us and get us fired up, inspired, and motivated to buy.

NORMIE MARKETING: Relive the glory days of youth with a blast from the past of a forgotten classic that you can display on your shelf

HARDCORE MARKETING: 1/25 scale, white resin, 22 pieces, chrome plated parts, vacuformed glass, vinyl tires, promo-style chassis, clear resin headlights and taillights

GOD MODE MARKETING: Mockups, test shots, prototypes, builtups, 3D renders, closeups, sprue shots, box art, videos, reviews, and more

And on that note, Moebius' upcoming Ford wrecker is a fine example of really good marketing. I know nothing about wreckers, but thanks to Moebius, I learned quickly, and am super stoked to get one.
