Ace-Garageguy
Wow. I thought I knew my flathead schmidtz, but I've never seen that one before. Thanks.
Mark
Might that be an Australian rod? I'm not seeing a drag link where I think it should be in the picture, if so then those heads might have been locally made there. With two exhaust ports per side, apparently those heads move the exhaust ports out of the block...very smart move. Easier to keep the engine cool, for one thing. That picture was taken at a London car show. It referred to a "Firth Conversion" I will mostly spend a good part of my day searching for info on this Edited August 3 by Jon Haigwood
Mark
Never heard of Firth. The heads look a lot like the Smith "Jigglers" which were USA made. Those too are rare pieces, especially the V8-60 version.

stavanzer
As Mark B. said it looks like the Smith Jiggler. https://myflatheadford.com/the-famous-jiggler/ https://www.motortrend.com/news/hrxp-1111-tiny-smith-flathead-ford-jiggler-v8-60/ A neat Little Engine. I wonder what connection it has to the Firth Conversion?

stavanzer
Of Course, but interesting to me that Convergent Evolution seems to have caused these two engines to look similar. I wonder how old the Firth Engine is?

I wonder if the Firth Folks have seen and read about the Jiggler. As obscure as the Smith Engine is, it is not totally Unknown. Seems that somebody could take inspiration from it. Silvercreeker
The VCG Resins Jiggler is super cool for any exposed engine hot rod! I just had to put it in my 32 build.
