Might that be an Australian rod?  I'm not seeing a drag link where I think it should be in the picture, if so then those heads might have been locally made there.  

With two exhaust ports per side, apparently those heads move the exhaust ports out of the block...very smart move.  Easier to keep the engine cool, for one thing.

That picture was taken at a London car show. It referred to a "Firth Conversion"  I will mostly spend a good part of my day searching for info on this

A neat Little Engine. I wonder what connection it has to the Firth Conversion?

After looking at their FB page I would guess the Firth is  a more recent design,

I thought so too. I wonder if the Firth Folks have seen and read about the Jiggler. As obscure as the Smith Engine is, it is not totally Unknown. Seems that somebody could take inspiration from it.
