6bblbird Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 How's this for inspiration? I thought that this car was absolutely insane! So, of course, I have to build it! Starting with a heavily damaged promo body, I'm underway!I have to cut out the hood. I moved the rear wheel openings forward to mimic the photos 10

Nitro330 Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 What a cool project! That is one wild looking Valiant.
stavanzer Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Awesome Work! Can't wait to see how it comes along.
Zippi Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 That's a Great subject and insperation for your build. Going to make a nice little drag car.
6bblbird Posted August 15, 2024 Author Posted August 15, 2024 Used a Miss Deal chassis for the project. Funny how I’ve used this chassis at least 4 other times, yet I’ve never built one with the Studebaker body. Injected small block is perfect. Hood scoop choice is to be determined. 7
6bblbird Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 Chassis work continues: I fabricated these bars and I made some front shocks from aluminum tubing. Interior tub gets quite hacked up! Meet the driver! An Ulrich Mini man. These figures are posable. I drilled and pinned the joints to get him in the correct pose. By using pins, you can adjust all the joints. 6
M W Elky Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Do you know what part of the country that ran in ?

6bblbird Posted August 19, 2024 Author Posted August 19, 2024 Piecing together a roll cage. Not sure I like the way it’s going. May start over from scratch. 4
6bblbird Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 Interior will be very spartan. Just a shifter and a few gauges 3
6bblbird Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 This scoop is NOT working for me. Gonna have to find something else! Notice the radius rods. I dropped the car but caught it before it hit the floor . Unfortunately. I broke the plastic radius rods. Stainless tubing replaced the kit parts.I think that they actually look better. Happy accident? 5
6bblbird Posted September 4, 2024 Author Posted September 4, 2024 I saw this at Chryslers at Carlisle. Great minds think alike!? 2
bisc63 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Outrageously cool and funky! How was this car never a model kit done by MPC?! It just fits with their style!

NitroMarty Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Great project!!! I have contemplated building a model of that car many times, but never got around to it. Love that you are using the Miss Deal chassis.... I have used that kit as the base for the chassis on a half dozen of my s/fx and gasser builds through the years and have a couple more under projects that are in the works.
