:D Did a bit of cleaning. I'm not so lucky as some of you guys who has their own hobby room all for yourself. I have to keep my paints and bits in drawers. But they've been a mess lately. Well, not anymore :D

Anyway, back to the Camaro :D Did a bit of painting. Painted some random bits

A while back, i saw a youtube video about heatstained exhausts and wanted to try it out. So first, i painted the exhaust in chrome silver

Then add some clear blue and orange

The exhaust itself came out pretty good, but im not so sure yet if ill keep it like this. The Camaro isnt really known as a high powered supercar so the heatstained exhaust is maybe too much :D Dont know yet, maybe i'll repaint it.

While many Camaros were just a normal car in the performance area, they also offered several high-performance options and model variations. This model is of the RPO Z28 order option that was designed to compete with cars from other manufactures in a class by The Sports Car Club of America, I.E. SCCA. The Z-28 had an engine that used the 327 cu in block but with the shorter crank stroke from a 283 cu in engine. This engine displaced 302 cu in and was designed to operate at very high engine speeds. The option included special suspension components designed more for road racing than highway use. Power front disc brakes were also part of the standard package along with 15" steel wheels to clear the larger diameter disks. The exhaust represented in this kit was called "Chambered Exhaust" and wasn't really appreciated by most law enforcement. The duel four-barrel cross ram intake manifold and carbs were an extra cost option along with a four-wheel disc brake option. Even with the standard single four-barrel Holly carb these cars were nothing to mess with on the street and took the manufacturers trophy in the SCCA. Super Car, maybe not, but for the money lots of luck finding many cars that could begin to match these cars for acceleration, handling, or even stopping.

Nice start on your Camaro, I like the Exhaust adds a bit of color, I am an old guy when I was in high school in the very late 1970's we had guy who had an original 1969 Z28 with the 302 dual 4 bb and a 4 speed blue with the white stripes, beautiful fast car.

I really wasn't trying to be "preachy" about the Camero, but I'm sort of from that generation of when these cars were as common as say a Dodge Challenger RT is today.

Did some painting at sunset today ?

Sadly, didnt have enough daylight left to finish it, but still....
Went with the usual way - first, wetsanded the body down with 1000grit sponge
KkqNoeh.jpeg
Then a couple of coats of mr.surfacer 1000
jMnlXus.jpeg
After that, a few coats of mr.surfacer 1500 black

I'll let it dry for a bit. Then might do another wetsand with 3000 grit before the basecoat, but we'll see

Decided to do another sanding. There was some flat spots and marks still left from yesterday.

Then it was basecoat time. This time, i went with the dark blue

Still havent decided about the stripes. Black or white? Idea is to make it a bit menacing so im leaning towards black. But havent decided yet. The white would look awsome too.

Beautiful! I may have missed it, but what brand and color paint did you use?

I mostly use paints from gravity colors. This one is called ferrari blu elettrico.

I've had my fair share of issues with different chrome paints before so this time, i decided to go with the Tamiya silver chrome. Didnt look as good as alclad so i'll probably wont do it again :D Maybe some metal foil for my next model - we'll see.
