Vettegasser Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Anyone ever take this kit. Put the 60 ford starliner frame under it. Looks like it be a pretty easy swap. Give it a bit more detail
bobss396 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I did a fit-up and it is doable. I also have in the works a '64 using a late Winston Cup chassis. I lengthened it in front of the firewall... big mistake. Now the transmission is too far forward... BACK IN THE BOX...
Vettegasser Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 Yea I’m thinkin it’ll give the old girl a better look.
Shark Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 That frame works well with a number of early 60's Ford products. I am putting under a 64 myself, only the stock body to make a Nascar. I used it under a 62 and will do so when I get around to the 1963 I plan to do 1
bobss396 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 The last one I had the Starliner chassis under (fit check only) was the AMT '61 Ford body. I was not able to see how good the wheelbase was, but this is what razor saws are for. Definitely count on making up some mounting provisions. The interior tub would be the wild card, as the chassis is totally open. In the past, I have used only the bottom of the tub. In one case when I did a '66 Buick interior in a '49 Mercury, the Buick tub was shallow enough to leave the stock Mercury chassis as it was supplied.

The AMT kit is pretty crappy and light on chassis and engine detail. Would the motor from the '60 Starliner still be a valid component in a '64 car?
Vettegasser Posted August 27, 2024 Author Posted August 27, 2024 Yea from what mockups I’ve done it would
bobss396 Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 I used the Starliner engine in another build, I forget what it was, maybe a 352? It had good detail to it being a new tool kit. Another great engine is the 427 from the AMT '65 Ford.
Johnny Canuck Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 (edited) Would Lorenzen have been running with a 427 in '64? Edit: Yes he would have. So, no Starliner motor for that project. Edited August 28, 2024 by Johnny Canuck
