CA Whitecloud Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 (edited) let's try this one... Edited September 16, 2024 by CA Whitecloud 6
TarheelRick Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 A gentleman showed up at our last VFW meeting driving a 1:1 of this truck. It was dropped about 4 inches all the way around, painted a mile-deep black, IIRC it was sporting torque thrust mags. Very beautiful truck. Now what are your plans for this one?

Nothing quite so dramatic for this build. A little more conservative. Something like this. I'm a bit bummed this kit does not come with the side trim. I don't think I'm skilled enough to replicate it. 1
CA Whitecloud Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 Unless... Someone can talk me through achieving this kind of stance. 1
TopherMcGinnis Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Hack and whack until you're satisfied ? 1
TopherMcGinnis Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 (edited) Or, you can reach for the sky! This is HEMIFRIED. Everything needs a blown Hemi in it! House Of Kolor Hellfire paint. Edited September 16, 2024 by TopherMcGinnis

espo Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 This is a great kit with lots of possibilities and limited only by your imagination. Stock, custom or trashed just do it your way. 1
Oldriginal86 Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Did the side trim on this ‘64. Came out a little on the thick side. 3

CA Whitecloud Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 I could not get the hood to line up. After over sanding I had to get out the putty. It'll be tricky to keep it from falling off. I used Tamiya Champagne Gold for the interior. I pondered doing another trim color. No carpet this time, but I do wish I had detailed the seat a bit more. 2
CA Whitecloud Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 Pickup primed. And primed again. I sprayed grey first on the white plastic to spot flaws, then white over the grey to show off the color coats better. Does that jive? 2
CA Whitecloud Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 Am I the only one who just recently learned this trick to roughen the tires? 2
CA Whitecloud Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 Wires, or no? I don't remember buying grey wires, but so be it.
NOBLNG Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) It’s looking good Calvin.? I had trouble getting the floorpan to sit up tight against the firewall on my ‘65, which is from the same tooling I think. And the windshield doesn’t fit great, so check those issues before paint.? Zippi Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 The ole 66 Chevy pickup is looking pretty good there Calvin.
CA Whitecloud Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 Not quite the aquamarine color I was looking for, but that's cool. I tried some pre-shading on the grill before the white topcoat. Well see if it shows at all. 1
CA Whitecloud Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 I can't decide how to treat the engine bay. Do I make it all body color, all black, or firewall and radiator black and the rest body color. Thoughts?

From the factory, the firewall was body color and the inner fenders and radiator cradle were black. Edited September 18, 2024 by NOBLNG 2
slusher Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Grill, wheels, and interior are really greatly detailed!

CA Whitecloud Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 Wiring went well I think. next time I want to try adding some cable looms, any ideas appreciated. This time I drilled holes big enough to insert the boot first. I think it looks cleaner. 2
