“Mer-Low”, 1949 Revell Mercury

The "Mer-low" is done. This is a 1949 Revell Mercury Chopped Sedan.  This was what was a typical 50’s custom Leadsled.  It was lowered 3” in front and back. Color is a Ford Merlot Burgundy, with 2k clear.  Engine is the 331 Cadillac from the kit, (which makes this a typical “Mercillac” from the era) with VCG Resins carbs, air cleaner.  Protech sparkplug wires, boots and wire dividers and an Iceman distributor and coil.  Iceman interior door handles and arm rests.  Valve stems are scratch built. Ken’s fuzzy fur carpet and dice and lastly Detail Masters speaker grills on the back dash.  All chrome was stripped and replaced with Revell Chrome, and trim is Bare Metal foil.  License Plates and dash are from Best Model Car Parts. Enjoy.

Nice looking build Scott.  Great color choice.  That 331 engine looks pretty sweet setting in there.  I built the AMT kit but not the Revell yet.

I just built the AMT right before this Revell one. Both are great. The AMT has beautiful lines.

Beautiful Mercury there Scott, I have also built both AMT and Revell kits and agree they are both nice kits. Your paint work is outstanding, right up there with the best. Really well done and thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

David. 😎👍
