Tops of the curve remain untouched. Easy mod. Mike, now that I've finished my '32 sedan, I'm getting back to the Falcon and I agree I must make the mods you suggested. Any tips before I start on that rear bodywork? Thanks Edited October 22, 2024 by dino246gt
dino246gt Posted October 22, 2024 Author Posted October 22, 2024 With the hood opened up to clear the blower drive, there's not much left between that and the chrome insert. So I decided to blank it off, and those fender ornaments, they were missing, and because I eliminated the chrome hood insert, I decided to fill those in as well. Still need tweaking but I'm liking the look of less chrome. I do want to try and keep the "62 only" side chrome though. 6

Thanks Yes, In addition to tapering those brows down to flush at the bottom, I'd also suggest scribing the panel lines inside of the taillights that separate the 1/4 panels from the rear panel. (circled) It's a light line on the real cars, but it's there and adds to realism. The car's looking great. 4
dino246gt Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 Okay, so it wasn't that easy, but it sure is essential, the difference is noticeable. It looks like a '62 or '63, not a '60 or '61. I went with a factory color, Acapulco Blue Poly, but nothing else is factory correct! 6
dino246gt Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 I made a plate for the floor shifter, drilled some parts box door handles and glued wire in them, cleaned up a fire extinguisher, drilled out a column mount tach, and sprayed them all chrome. 4
dino246gt Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 (edited) I did some re-shaping of the '64 Fairlane bucket seats and made stands to raise them slightly off the floor. Edited November 5, 2024 by dino246gt 4
dino246gt Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 I fitted pedals, the shifter and a roll cage from the Mobius Nova gasser kit. Fire extinguisher detailed and installed. Passenger seat has Ford lap belts, driver's seat will have black racing harness. I added a decal to the upper roll bar that will probably not be seen! 6
Geno Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 (edited) Man, I'm diggin your build. It's looking fantastic. I had a damaged Franklin Mint 1/24 diecast I converted.? Edited November 4, 2024 by Geno 4
dino246gt Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 (edited) Working on the dash, added lots of extra details, but I still need to smooth out those pull knobs! Still just a mock-up but it'll look good once it's tweaked and installed! Edited November 5, 2024 by dino246gt 6
dino246gt Posted November 6, 2024 Author Posted November 6, 2024 TIP: This is how I make using photo-etch seatbelt hardware much easier to use. I put tape over the end, then cut leaving a tape pointed end. Now it's easy to push in and pull through, without all the hassle of the ribbon coming unfrayed and hanging up part way in. 3
dino246gt Posted November 6, 2024 Author Posted November 6, 2024 Here's how those seatbelts turned out, interior is pretty much finished! 5
dino246gt Posted November 6, 2024 Author Posted November 6, 2024 Got the body polished out using Novus 2: 3
dino246gt Posted November 6, 2024 Author Posted November 6, 2024 45 minutes of masking for 45 seconds of airbrushing! 6
customline Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Some dynamite work being done here. Super nice interior. Paint rubbed out beautifully. 2
dino246gt Posted November 12, 2024 Author Posted November 12, 2024 Foil and glass done. Still just a mock up though. Separate door handles installed. 8
slusher Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Impressive work Dennis, I have been watching! 1
Zippi Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 This is really looking good Dennis. I dig a nice old drag car. 2
Maindrian Pace Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Great updates and details, I especially like the factory looking radio delete plate on the dash. 1
Sledsel Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) She is really looking great!!!! As an FYI, the supercharged FE's (and most Fords) had a taller intake to clear the distributor. Note how high the base of the blower is in this pic. Edited November 15, 2024 by Sledsel 1
bobss396 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Awesome build! We definitely could use a source for the early Falcon bodies. I have an eye out for a builder-donor. My plans would to use the Mustang or later Falcon AWB as the donor kit. 1
