Someone's probably done this conversion before, but I decided to take my own approach!

The fundamentals of this build will be the Revell 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle and the AMT 1965 Pontiac GTO.

Essentially an Acadian Beaumont is a Chevelle with an interior mostly sourced from the Tempest, LeMans, or GTO (depending on the specification) with a few Chevelle parts sprinkled in. In the case of the Sport Deluxe, it is essentially a GTO interior with a Chevelle center console, so the first order of business is getting the GTO interior tub into the Chevelle body.20240930_235134.thumb.jpg.4ac647992cfff363074e10f4bb2ce3f5.jpg20240930_235422.thumb.jpg.362819cb5488ea6feb957d7f1be78d26.jpg20240930_235418.thumb.jpg.04466c24256ccb10213a7d68d3d90722.jpg20240930_235438.thumb.jpg.67d8b63179464dca9dba364ab9bf12c1.jpg20240930_235704.thumb.jpg.c8e7b35e1b9a2772eb1de3f8e5e19134.jpg20240930_235717.thumb.jpg.ff16fceb6c55699dcbbf840f2339efef.jpg

After trimming off the locating pegs on both parts, I did a test fit and found that the GTO interior tub is too shallow for the Chevelle. No big deal, I'll boost it up with some styrene!

As you can see both tubs now line up perfectly. Another test fit you can see below confirms this issue is solved.20241001_002045.jpg

Always though these were nice looking cars. So often when they modified an existing vehicle for an export or even a follow up model year, the6 just don’t look right.  The Beaumont does.

I agree, they didn't go over the top, just gave it a tasteful Pontiac esque look. It was meant to be a cheaper alternative to the Tempest/LeMans as those were still being imported and subject to the pre Auto Pact tariffs.

Michael I will be watching this build. I enjoyed the wagon you built very nice. I live in Ohio and years ago I had a 67 Beaumont I miss that car.

I think you may be mixing me up with someone else, I wasn't the one who built the wagon. I appreciate the interest though!

You are right it was another builder. A little brain fade on my part lol. I will still be watching as I do like a Beaumont. You might inspire me to build one of my own. Along with the 500 other ideas rattling around in my brain.

Hi Michael, I love seeing someone else building a Beaumont. I will be watching with interest. I own a ‘67 Beaumont Sport Deluxe which I plan to build a replica of, but realistically, that’s a couple of years away.

Cheers, Steve

Ah haha it happens to me too! I may be able to help you with your Beaumont build, I'm currently designing a grille to be resin 3D printed. I'll be selling them! I'm designing it to fit the Revell kit perfectly.

Thats very cool! I'm glad you're enjoying the project and I'm looking forward to yours. I'm currently designing a 3D printed '65 grille, but I may he doing a '67 grille in the future that I'll be selling copies of.

Nice to see others interested in Beaumont models.  Im the one that built the 65 and 67 wagons.  I made my grilles from scratch with evergreen strips, then resin cast them for multiple copies.  Im sure the 3D printing guys will eventually do the grills to much greater detail.   Looking forward to seeing a Sport Deluxe version, keep up the good work!

You can search out my detailed build threads on these 2 cars for a bit of inspiration.  Also, welcome to the forum!  you will like it!

Thank you! That means a-lot coming from you! I found your wagon build posts a while ago and read all of them. The scratch-built grilles are very impressive, I don't have the skillset for that lol. I'm an engineering student who needs to build a CAD portfolio so I'm going the 3D printed route.

Michael I would be very interested in purchasing a grill when get them done. I always liked the look of the Beaumont. Having one in scale would be cool. Looking forward to seeing your build finished. Brian

I would like any Beaumont bits you do. Message me or post here when they are available. I'm converting a Dodge 700 truck to a Fargo.

Thank you for the interest! Once I get the first prints done I will make a post with more details on purchasing them in the aftermarket section of the forum.

Wow those are one of a kind builds! Love to see models of our Canadian autos. Always wanted to build a 1968 or ‘69 Beaumont SD 396. No 3D printer though, and I don’t know how to use one, but those wagons you have there are absolutely awesome ?

Update on the fascia! It's not finished but I'm close!

The blacked out sections of the grille will most likely be a separate insert to make painting easier. I haven't made those yet and they are the next big thing on the to-do list.

I will likely end up purchasing my own resin printer soon. Still undecided as to whether I will be outsourcing the printing or not, but I've been browsing some stores and have found some good prices on printers and curing stations. I tried to print a grille for a fitment test on my dad's FDM printer but that just didn't cut it unfortunately. The supports were too difficult to remove without damaging the piece and the detail was all garbled up to boot. MSLA printing is just far better for minute details, so I'm going to be patient and do it right.

Anyway, here's a screenshot from Autodesk Fusion with all of the edges hidden so you can see a closer representation of the real part. Once again, this is entirely my own work I've drawn up from scratch with basic dimensions from the kit and lots of staring at reference photos! Most of the dimensions of the details are estimated to the best of my ability to get the right "look".

@TheBEAUMONTGURU's work is awesome and inspiring! I remember finding his posts a while ago. Also, you will not have to worry about working a 3D printer if I can get my parts on the market, they will be fully printed and ready to purchase and use.

That would be awesome to just buy a front clip and tailights to add on a chevelle kit. But that would also mean the use of Pontiac interior compartments and special decals for the emblems and in the case of the Beaumont SD, the SD 396 stripe. Hope you can get at least the main parts out in the near future.

I'm hoping that when I release my parts I will also include a list of parts from other kits that will be needed. The GTO kit is a recent release so it is still easily accessible.

When it comes to an interior,  if you are building a Sport Deluxe(SD)  then Mike is correct, the interior would swap over from the 65 GTO kit,  just putty up the Pontiac logo on the seats.    But if you wanted to build a "Beaumont Deluxe"(the base model like a chevelle 300)  OR a "beaumont Custom"(like a chevelle malibu-NON SS)  then you could keep with the 65 z-16 interior panels and make the seat inserts look like cloth with a fleur-de-leys pattern.   of course you would always need a GTO kit for the dashboard.   Sorry to derail your thread!
