Radretireddad Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 (edited) I’m wondering why the team at Round2 chose to do a variation of the Demon tooling to make a ‘72 Duster instead of their better detailed ‘71 Duster kit.? Edited October 12, 2024 by Radretireddad
Radretireddad Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 (edited) I’m looking forward to bashing an unmarked police version of that Charger kit when it gets released.? Edited October 12, 2024 by Radretireddad
66c10 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Love the 2021 charger widebody and 64 olds f-85 funny car and duster

Demon is a new tool, gotta spread the costs around to other projects to amortize the costs. Plus all the pre-Round2 kits were all done the old school way with no CAD files so it's a colossal PITA to add to/change them 30 some years later. 2

Mark C. Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 These guys never cease to find new was to separate me from my money! ? 2 2
1972coronet Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 1972 Duster 340 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It appears that they even got the 1972 upholstery pattern ; that's shared with the '72 Demon ! Even the 1972-only air cleaner is included !! Well, now I can build a correct '72 Demon without tracking down the interior from an MPC '72 annual ! Other stuff looks sweet, too - the '72 Chevelle SS-454 and the '76 Nova especially.

You’ll still need the grille won’t you?
oldcarfan Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 I'm not too keen on these new releases, but I do have fond memories of the 76 Nova kit. It looks really nice lowered as a small town small town oval track Street Stock racer.
66c10 Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Glad to see 65 Dodge coronet 500 Hemi back will build one and put in my Mopar collection

Plus all the pre-Round2 kits were all done the old school way with no CAD files so it's a colossal PITA to add to/change them 30 some years later. The full front bumper modification of the Mueller-Montgomery-Carlock era '70 Camaro tool, was probably a costly lesson. Also, the way the tooling is designed doesn't allow much leverage in swapping and adding existing or newly created inserts. Remember the sixty 2'n 1 Ford Galaxie, where they had to run the tooling in two different configurations to get all the necessary parts for that kit, which meant clipping off dual parts on the packaging line, which, IMHO, is a trainwreck in the making. The only way to make siblings for the pre-CAD file kits is to scan them and work from there, incorporating new part versions and, more importantly, designing a cluster of tooling that can be run in different configurations, streamlining the production and packaging process to minimize the chance of errors. I think Round2 is on top of things. Is there room for improvement? Sure, but in the end, ROI is what counts, pays the wages, running costs, the investors and also finances future developments. Personally, I would like them to have a better and cheaper distributor for the EU, one that thru R2 can order a container directly from China, maybe Glow2B the owner of Heller can be that company, which eliminates excessive shipping, the cost that come with it and in the mean time restoring an old partnership and reduce the price disadvantage they now have, compared to their direct competitor; Revell. Just my 2 cents Edited October 13, 2024 by Luc Janssens clarification. 2
Mr mopar Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Wow a '72 Duster kit cool ,but I'm hoping they do A '70 out of there AMT ;71 Duster kit more money to spend !!
TonyK Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 I like that Duster. Been holding off buying these Mopar models but think it's time for that one.

I bought a few resin 1972 grilles from an eBay seller (who also offers 1971 grilles) . The upholstery pattern is shared between the Duster and Demon, at least insofar as the bucket seats are concerned.

Rob Hall Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 I suspect there will be additional versions of the Demon and Duster coming... 1
