nickfzr61 Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Bought this kit to use along with a few others when I built my 55 Chevy Two Lane Blacktop car. Planning on building it more pro touring rather than pro street. I was thinking about buying an engine and other parts online but I’m going to try and use what I have laying around instead. Would really love to put a nice printed LS in it and I might have to buy wider front tires. First thing was to drop the whole car especially the rear. Still not sure about the color. Thinking about murdering it out. 5
TopherMcGinnis Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 There are some very nice resin suppliers out there. I've bought a bunch of Jay's wheels off Ebay. Super nice quality. Ice Man has killer engines. Are you thinking Black everything, or maybe black-cherry, or black with a blue hue? 1
Zippi Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I'm diggin the stance Nick. A deep Maroon would look nice. 1

Texas 3D Customs has some really nice engines too but they’re pricey Thinking about blacking out everything. Trim. Grill. Bumpers. Wheels. Everith. Black black and more black. 38 minutes ago, Zippi said: I'm diggin the stance Nick. A deep Maroon would look nice. Yeah Deep Maroon would be sweet but I’m really leaning towards black. Thinking maybe Satin Black for the body and Gloss Black for everything else.

Yeah I wasn’t feeling the Pro Street rubber so I picked up a set of printed wheels from Jays Resin. Edited October 31, 2024 by nickfzr61 3
TopherMcGinnis Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Those look good painted with Molotow chrome.

TopherMcGinnis Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 I picked up some Alclad Black Chrome I'm going to try on something soon.
nickfzr61 Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 Primed and painted the body. I used the Mr. Surfacer pink primer that i bought for my Diamonds are Forever Mach 1. I really liked the way it went down so I figured I’d use again. Didn’t know if it would give the black a cherry tint but it came out fine. Black is Tamiya Matte Black decanted and airbrushed. Thanks for looking 2
nickfzr61 Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 I think I’m happy with the stance. 4
BK9300 Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Looks killer in the matte finish and I'll bet it would corner 'on a rail'! 1
nickfzr61 Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 Installed the glass and rear bumper. I was going to use one of the carbureted spare engines I have left over from my TLB 55 Chevy kit bash but decided this beast deserves a modern LS. Santa might be bringing me a 3D printer so I’m going to wait and try that as my first project. 8

I really like where you took this.
Starwulf Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Miss Murder sounds like a good moniker for the build.
bobss396 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I like it. I have one started (BACK IN THE BOX..) and was using the kit engine and headers The headers hung way down, too low. I had to remove them (all painted if course) and remove some vertical material. I dropped mine down too.

The kit has long tube headers that definitely hang down too low.
nickfzr61 Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 Well I got the printer from Santa. I must have been good because he gave me a Mars 5 Ultra printer and a Mercury Plus 3.0 wash and cure station. 😁 I downloaded a bunch of free software and files and got to it. Managed to print out an LS3. Still have to print the pulleys and accessories. Pretty happy with the results so far. 6
Mattilacken Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Sweet build! I have some long tube headers that I made for my LS if you like you can have the file and try them out.

Thank you. Sure I’d be glad to trade you the files I made for yours if you like. Never traded files before on a forum so let me know what we need to do. As for the engine I didn’t scale it correctly. Now that’s a big block! 😁 Being my first print I sort of expected it. I’m going to have to scale it down and reprint it. Don’t really know what I’m doing so it’s going to be trial and error. No biggie. I guess that’s the good thing about having a printer. If a part is wrong or lost you just reprint it right? 3

That’s a big block haha! A LS valvecover is 20mm long in 1/25 so start scaling one of those and after that u can use the same scale for the rest. If your splitting tool can’t do that you can use Chitubox for free and do it there. and yes that is the good thing about a printer 😉 I send you a pm.

Hi Anton Never received your message so I sent you one. Let me know if you get it. Edited January 5 by nickfzr61
nickfzr61 Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Reprinted as per Mattilackens recommendation and looks much better. Thank you Anton. Also printed a low rise intake manifold. 2
nickfzr61 Posted Sunday at 05:34 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:34 PM I’ve been printing parts for the LS3 when I have time. Between being busy with family and work and learning how to use Blender and Meshmixer it’s been slow going but it’s coming along. 1
Zippi Posted Sunday at 06:03 PM Posted Sunday at 06:03 PM Looking pretty sharp there Nick. That 67 Chevelle looks sinister. I'm digging the 3D printer. I got the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra for Christmas. Been printing out some engines myself. 1

My Mars 5 Ultra is good for now. Really wanted one to print parts so it’s working out nice for that. Maybe some day I’ll trade up.
