I bought this kit 1 or 2 years ago off fleabay.  After buying the kit I ordered a set of  22" "Essence" Wheels with 1" While Walls from Jay's.  Still undecided on these wheels & tires or the stock white walls.  I've been looking at colors and my eye keeps coming back to the Tamiya TS-64 Dark Mica Blue Lacquer paint.  If you have built this kit tell me what you thought of the Quality and any issues.

So, as a diehard Oldsmobile fan, I really like this kit. I wish I had bought more of both the stock and custom versions for future projects.

IMO, it's a fine kit and builds up easily. I wouldn't say it falls together, but assembly is pretty straightforward. Everything is molded cleanly, although I do remember there being some very minor flash on a few trees.

There are a couple of dimensional bugaboos that Olds fans might pick up on, but they are all very minor. One of the more apparent issues is the window divider bar, which most modelers are going to remove on a custom anyway. The stock kit, which represents an 88 coupe, should have a two piece windshield.

There is a good bit of chrome trim to foil or paint on the body, but nothing excessive. For me the worst part was foiling the trim under and around the rear window. Not an issue so much if you're masking & painting.

I think the kit would look great in the dark blue, maybe even a two-tone with a white or silver roof?

I'm a big fan of the subject and have built a few. Very happy with the way it builds up with no real problems I didn't create on my own. I did a resin fastback in blue as that is my favorite body style. I also built a sleeper coupe with a blown engine all under the stock hood and only some slicks to give it away. Another as a '50's era CHP black & white.

Thanks DJ.  I appreciate all the info.  I'm looking forward to the build.

Much obliged David.  That sleeper build really sounds kewl.  I'm thinking a nice little curiser for Saturday night runs to the town square to meet with the boys but it's still early in the game so thing are subject to change.

There is one kit I’d wished I had managed to find and add to my small stash, I’ve seen the roof conversion with the roof of the Chevy fast back, I envision it as a chopped roof tail dragger with wide whitewalls, lake pipes and a sinister dark colour.

Some of the great things about this kit as opposed to the original one is the dual exhaust, not that you can't make your own, just easier. On the sleeper build I used the larger diameter wheels and slicks from the first issue of the '57 Ford coupe kit. Tight fit but didn't have to narrow the rear end either. I robed the blower setup off of the Buick Stage II kit. The suspension is fairly easy to lower as needed.

I built this one and quite enjoyed it.  I recall it went together without too many issues.  Looking forward to following your efforts. I liked it enough that I bought a second one that is currently in the stash.

I have not built mine yet but kits wheels and tires look best in my opinion Bob!

Thanks Carl.  Haven't made up my mind on wheels & tires just yet.  To early in the game.

Yup, I remember your build Andrew.  Yeah, the body on this kit is super clean.  My chassis is twisted so I'll have to get out the ole heat gun.

I've built 2 of these excellent kits, one bone stock, and one made into an imaginary 3 window "salesman's" coupe, but the salesman sold his to a hot rodder!

I don't usually comment all that much on the W.I.P section. I like to browse through it though. A good deal of the time the projects don't seem to come to fruition for one reason or another. But I can usually count on Zippi to complete something worth checking out start to finish. Do your thing Bob. We'll be lookin'.

Looking forward to seeing the WIP on your 50 Olds Zippi. My vote would be for the Jay’s 22’ Essence wheels/tires. I might have to get me a set of those! Here’s a 50 Olds I built a few years ago when it was first released.I had no problems building it other than lowering the suspension.I wouldn’t mind building another one later on down the road.

The 3W job is awesome, Dennis. Rounding the window frame makes it very legit looking- like it's factory. I'm stealing that idea, thank you very much.
