Are you spraying it straight from the can or decanting it and airbrushing it?

I'll be spraying it straight from the can.

That is part of your problem. That color will cause this issue over any primer unless you pray light mist coats and build it up. It dries pretty fast, so do a couple of mist coats from bigger distance, where it looks kind of flat, not wet at all. Give it 15 min and do the same. Another 15 minutes and do the same, but this time see some gloss and as soon it starts looking wet, put it aside. Give it a day and clear it. You should be fine. Altho I would seriously think about investing in an airbrush. The NEO for Iwata in Hobby Lobby is a great value. Christmas is coming and it is a perfect thing to put on your Christmas list. Unless you've been naughty ?

Thanks man.  I use my airbrush most of the time and use Splash Paints and their 2K clear.  I've just been playing around with the Tamiya TS colors.

I use Tamiya all the time. I buy a bag of 200 waxed cups - shot sizes and then just spray TS paint right in it, bend the edge and pour it straight in my airbrush cup. You just have to let them gas out a little. right in your airbrush cup (you can see bubbles at first). I don't thin them or anything. Works perfect every time. With the exception of "Neon Colors" those are very "powdery" and will cause trouble in your airbrush unless you thin them down.

Thanks man.  Yup, I have a video on my youtube channel on how to decant paint.

Well...I ran into an issue with the wheels & tires that I wanted to use so I have went with my backup plan.  These are the kit tires and parts box wheels.  The wheels look a little better than the kit supplied wheels.  I now have a rolling chassis and the hood goes all the way down with the two 4 setup.

What was the issue with the other wheels? I think they looked a lot better. Maybe I can help.

Well, I checked the tire width in the body but guess I forgot to check the overall width needed.  The rear axle might not be to bad to fix but the front is a worse issue.  Better to use the stock tires to keep from tearing things up.  Oops...my bad.

So the resins were too wide?

if you go on Cults3D and find the same wheels (I’m pretty sure they’re on there) and tell me what they are, I can print them to match the size of the stock ones and it will fix your issue. And I wouldn’t need anything in return. Just wanna see your build finished.

Yup, wheels and tires were to wide.  I took a look on Cults3D briefly and didn't see anything that matched.  I'll take another look tomorrow.

I took another look this morning but didn't really see anything that matched the 22In. "Essence" Wheels I have.  Just to much stuff on the site and it's slow to load.

It’s looking real fine Bob.? I actually like the latest wheels on it.?

Thanks Greg.  They do look better than the kit wheels but not as good as the 22" Essence I wanted to use.

I think I'm done with the chassis except for the exhaust as it's looking pretty good to me.  Now I'm struggling over what color for the interior with the dark blue body.

Tan goes well with dark blue and a light gray might work also.  Maybe a light blue. White is always an option.

Thanks Jim.  I do have some of the Tamiya Buff that would look pretty nice.

Man I must have had a brain fart.  I should have installed the tail pipes and mufflers before the rear axle went on.  I had to cut the pipes on the back side of the mufflers and snake it all around everything.  I knocked off a few thing but got it all put back together and did a little touch up on the black.  Also got the hose clamps on the hoses and got the radiator assembled and painted.

lowridermodelcarparts.com has a visor for a '51 Chevy.

Thanks for the info.  I'll check it out.

I had a window of opportunity this morning to throw some paint on the ole 50 Olds.  It was 65° and the humidity was setting at 51% so I fired up the paint booth.  The paint laid down really nice but I'm just not sure if I like this Dark Mica Blue or not.  Maybe it will grow on me.  I do have a couple spots I'll have to sand and repaint as I picked up a little trash in the paint.  I'll let this set and cure out and wait for my next opportunity to airbrush some 2K clear on it.

Your paint sure looks good from the pics - I like the contrast of your detail painting on your chassis; you must be happy with the progress to date!

Thanks Brian.  Yup, I'm a happy camper so far.
