The paint laid down really nice but I'm just not sure if I like this Dark Mica Blue or not.  Maybe it will grow on me.

The paint looks great, laid down smooth indeed!

I've found Tamiya's Dark Mica Blue to be a dark color, yes, but much more on the blue end of the spectrum than your Olds, which looks almost...gray or gunmetal? Maybe it's just my monitor settings with my old eyes.

Either way, I dig it.

Another well executed build underway, Bob - looks really good!  If you still prefer the look of your ‘Essence’ wheels, but can’t file a file to modify, I notice Topher has a very similar set of resin wheels on page 2 in his ‘Hornet’ build.  Maybe he has a file that the wheels could be modified for width.

Thank's DJ.  I shot a couple extra coats on to make it darker so that could be why it looks dark to you.

Thanks Brian.  I'll check out Topher's thread.  Oh...I'm in the process of buying a 3D printer so maybe I can do some of my own prints in the future.

Everything is looking good so far.  The paint is cured but it has been pouring down rain today so getting the 2K clear on will have to wait.  I did a little test yesterday with the Mr.COLOR SM206 Super Metallic 2.  I thinned it down about 14 to 1 (I followed Barbatos Rex procedure) and airbrushed it on with about 18psi.  This made it look a little more chrome so I may hit all the chrome with this.

Man I must have had a brain fart.  I should have installed the tail pipes and mufflers before the rear axle went on.  I had to cut the pipes on the back side of the mufflers and snake it all around everything.  I knocked off a few thing but got it all put back together and did a little touch up on the black.  Also got the hose clamps on the hoses and got the radiator assembled and painted.

Looking good, I have done the exhaust that way many times. I've been building models for years and still get excited and miss a step or two! I like what you have here....

Chrome grill and bumpers look great. Like the interior color and finish.

Thanks David.  I'm slowly getting there.

Well...I fired up the spray booth this morning and shot the bright work with the new process.  Didn't come out as expected but, It kinda looks like a black chrome to me so I'm going with it.  The last pic is the Ultra Black Chrome we used to put on bright work where I used to work and was highly sought after.  I may have to order some of the MATTE ALUMINUM BARE-METAL FOIL for the rest of the bright work on the body.

I'm back off vacation and back at the bench.  I shot the Splash Paints 2K Urethane clear on this morning and it turned out pretty nice.

The 2K clear on the Olds has been curing out for 3 days so this morning the task at hand was to get some wet sanding done.  I started with the hood starting a 3600 then 4000, 6000, 8000, then 12000.  I'm at a lose as to what happened.  It has lost it's shine and took on a dull look.  I used some Meguiar's cutting compound and liquid wax and it did not help.  Now I'm in a pickle.

What about Novus, Bob, or maybe that 2K wasn't totally hard yet?

Well, 48 to 72 hrs is what Splash Paints suggest for cure time and its been 3 day but, its possible.  Tried the Novus and it didn't do any better than the Meguiar's I use.

Sounds like the paint is too soft. It couldn't hurt to give it more time and then try a final polishing again. I hope it works; that paint is awesome.

Yup, i have the hood in the Dehydrator as we speak.  Hope it works out.  My only other option would be to strip the wax and shoot another coat of 2K clear on.

Coming along nicely Bob. The chassis and engine look great. And here you are with the paint thing going on. Nothings ruined yet. The next coat of clear is going to lay down even better. Maybe clear just the hood again and see how it looks. You've done a great job so far!

Thanks man.  Yeah, if i do have to re-clear it will be the hood only.
