Hello,

About 15 years ago I did a Make and Take event with my Boy Scouts unit and it was a huge success.   Now I am part of the staff putting together the Puerto Rico Open Model Car and Collectibles Show which is quickly becoming the biggest show in PR.  I've been asked to coordinate a Make and Take for the kids attending.  However, I contacted Revell and was informed that Make and Take packages have been discontinued.  I emailed Round2/AMT but did not get a reply.  Any idea on how to proceed?  I mean, other than buying 20-30 retail kits...

Thanks,
Ismael

You might try Atlantis, we were able to get a bunch of bagged 1/32 drag racers, not sure if they are still available. You'll get nothing from Revell or Round2 these days. ACME has done some huge make & take events at our local Savoy Auto Museum over the past year, hundreds of kids and models. We will likely have to cut back as the manufacturers have proven to be completely disinterested in these programs; even if you could get kits at wholesale prices they are not cheap. Maybe you can try to convince an online retailer to sell at a bigger discount for a bulk order.

Yes, we do free Make-N-Takes at both Scottsdale Goodguys shows - the Spring Nationals in March and the Southwest Nationals in November. The kits are from AutoWorld as part of a national promotional cooperative agreement between AutoWorld and Goodguys.

Additionally, we (Cactus Car Modelers) offer a free Make-N-Take at Desert Scale Classic every year - this coming year it is April 12, 2025. It's our 10th or 11th year (of MNTs).

Merry Christmas everyone!

In the event you can't get a model company to provide the Make & Take, I've had success finding local sponsors to fund the purchase of a couple cases of models. Select the quick build kit you'd like to provide, estimate the number of kits you think you'll need, then approach sponsors with the specific amount you'll need to purchase X-number of kits (including shipping). You'll get a better response with a concrete number than an open ended request for undefined sponsorship. Never hurts to ask, but you might have to make a lot of asks.

Look for businesses that regularly look for opportunities to make philanthropic, tax deductible donations to community activities that favor kids, youth, families, etc.; banks, fraternal clubs, prominent business leaders, etc.

It might not be as much work as it sounds. But then again...

As Dan mentioned above the Make ‘n’ Take at the Scottsdale GoodGuys shows are popular event with the crowds. Here are some photos from the fall show…

Hello,

Quick update:  We were able to buy Make 'n Take bundle from Atlantis: 1/32 scale funny cars.  We will host 2 events: One on Saturday and one on Sunday.  It's been like 15 years since I hosted one.  Any pointers?  any videos of recent events to see the flow?  We were thinking to limit it to ages 12 or under but it will depend on the crowd.

Thanks,
Ismael
