You're making great progress and this is one of the best AMT kits out there for making different variations.

I also backdated one back in my early years on the forum 2014 ?

You can see the pics (maybe dang watermarks) and perhaps get some ideas

That older build turned out nice, I wondered what it would look like with the rivets removed. Is that something that a 1:1 might do?

Looking at these pix of mine I could have spent some time adjusting the lights better, but I'll see how it sands out.

Don't be discouraged - its modeling not defusing explosives.  Each build you always find something to improve on or do differently.

Ive got a pic of the old Frightliner coe we had on the ranch, yes you can see the rivets but very subtle. Not Titanic boiler rivets - I will find that pic and upload it for you later.

I killed myself laughing over this quote!! I need to put that in a plaque over my bench “It’s modelling - not defusing explosives!” Love it?

Here is a pic, the rivets are noticeable but not extreme.

They become more prominent with older paint jobs as the paint wears off of them

Small progress, don’t want to get ahead of myself. Happy with the headlight adjustment, experimenting making rivets. Trying thick enamel applied with a toothpick. And frame work continues.

Another small update, test fitting fuel tanks. Relocated the filler on the right side to match left side and mock-up of the chassis covers. I ordered these blacksheepcustomdesigns on eBay parts.

One question for those who did it- How much should the front axle be narrowed?

Where can I find Black Sheep? Are they on EBay?  I like what you have there, will really take your build over the top.

Yes, I failed to mention that it is ebay!

I was just looking at these and the airliner suspension. They look very nice.

Do you like the quality of the wheels? Thinking about getting aset

Wheels are very nice, minimal clean up, alignment pins and smooth. Great details too….

Assembly part 1: layout and test fit

I left the assembly unglued for painting and had to remove some pins to fit the AMT chassis

Wow, that is gonna be sittin low

Hopefully not too low! Since I haven't glued the two-piece air bags together, there is room for adjustment. I'll attempt to lower the front axle next.

I found this interesting:

The front axel on these kits are actually not too wide , it’s the engineering of the drums and backing plates that are the problem, and require that you thin out the components ( including the wheels from the spindle side ) . Then they will fit under the cab. But prototypically they did stick out slightly on the the standard cab.

And this:

from a 2018 FineScale Modeler, I omitted the front brakes on this one as a lot of folks have suggested on other sites and it's going to help put the wheels back under the fenders the way they are supposed to be.  AMT White Freightliner-Progress 03 May - FineScale Modeler - Essential magazine for scale model builders, model kit reviews, how-to scale modeling, and scale modeling products

There are several kits out there that have the wrong width front axle, great catch.
