I also backdated one back in my early years on the forum 2014 ? You can see the pics (maybe dang watermarks) and perhaps get some ideas That older build turned out nice, I wondered what it would look like with the rivets removed. Is that something that a 1:1 might do? Looking at these pix of mine I could have spent some time adjusting the lights better, but I'll see how it sands out. 2
Old Buckaroo Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Don't be discouraged - its modeling not defusing explosives. Each build you always find something to improve on or do differently. Ive got a pic of the old Frightliner coe we had on the ranch, yes you can see the rivets but very subtle. Not Titanic boiler rivets - I will find that pic and upload it for you later. 2
Biggu Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 ‘Defusing explosives’ ????????? I love that !!

I need to put that in a plaque over my bench “It’s modelling - not defusing explosives!” Love it? 1

Here is a pic, the rivets are noticeable but not extreme. They become more prominent with older paint jobs as the paint wears off of them 3
Biggu Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 You’re making this change look real easy, James… 1
Rockford Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Well done on the adjustment to the lights. Does make a difference. 2
James2 Posted November 21, 2024 Author Posted November 21, 2024 Small progress, don’t want to get ahead of myself. Happy with the headlight adjustment, experimenting making rivets. Trying thick enamel applied with a toothpick. And frame work continues. 3
Pete68 Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 That’s Freightshaker is shaping up. Looks good keep going. Thanks for sharing. 2
James2 Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 Another small update, test fitting fuel tanks. Relocated the filler on the right side to match left side and mock-up of the chassis covers. I ordered these blacksheepcustomdesigns on eBay parts. One question for those who did it- How much should the front axle be narrowed? 3
James2 Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 Black sheep Custom Design delivered today. Low air ride and custom wheels, great packaging. In boxing to follow. 2
BK9300 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 That’s going to dramatically change the look of your truck - looking forward to seeing how it’s set up! 1
Gary Chastain Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Where can I find Black Sheep? Are they on EBay? I like what you have there, will really take your build over the top. 1

Gary Chastain Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Do you like the quality of the wheels? Thinking about getting aset 1

James2 Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 Assembly part 1: layout and test fit I left the assembly unglued for painting and had to remove some pins to fit the AMT chassis U-bolts and shock plates 2

Since I haven't glued the two-piece air bags together, there is room for adjustment. I'll attempt to lower the front axle next. I found this interesting: PettyKW43 Posted June 12, 2019 The front axel on these kits are actually not too wide , it’s the engineering of the drums and backing plates that are the problem, and require that you thin out the components ( including the wheels from the spindle side ) . Then they will fit under the cab. But prototypically they did stick out slightly on the the standard cab. And this: from a 2018 FineScale Modeler, I omitted the front brakes on this one as a lot of folks have suggested on other sites and it's going to help put the wheels back under the fenders the way they are supposed to be.
