Exactly.

Actually, on the subscription page, the 'one year subscription' is listed as 6 issues. so I can understand some of the current confusion.

Actually there is another point of confusion. On the editorial page for issue 225 shows issue 225--May/June 2024 which is really going to create unnecessary confusion.

I am not part of the magazine staff, but my personal opinion is that they should not make any posts of when the magazine is going to the printer or being mailed. I like being surprised when it shows up. Give people information they will use it for good and evil. We do allow criticism of the magazine here, which I also don’t think we should do, but some take it to far and do it too often. It is kind of like trolling, which is against the forum rules.

When the announcement is made about mailing I like it so I can keep an eye out for the postal service to complete the job. It is a bit of torture though when everyday I wonder if this is the day I get the magazine only to open the box and slump when it isn't there. Then the day comes and I walk back to the house looking like Charlie Brown when he's all happy with his Christmas tree.

I just find it amusing Bob does his thing and a couple days later the magazine comes out... I think he's on the payroll :D .. that was joke.

I honestly don't care how often it hits the mailbox, as long as it's not like it used to be.

Another vote for the “magazine is in the mail” post.
With the print schedule the way it is (not complaining) I like the heads up.

Well, I think it does come quite regularly, maybe not on a tight schedule, but it does.  I get quite agog with excitement when it shows...just one thing I look forward to. It's not like it's a prescription drug I need to take on a controlled schedule. I totally get it is not that important in the grand scheme of things. It's about a hobby. I appreciate all the work the editors and the writers do and all that everyone else does at the mag. Just keep them coming.

I am currently missing issues #226,227, and 228. When and if will I get them. My subscription runs out after #228 and it depends on this whether I renew or not. Sorry for the delay but I am retired and cannot afford these loses. That is half of my subscription. Thank you and hope you resolve this problem.

226 hasn't shipped yet. Which means 227 and 228 haven't gone to print or shipped either.

I was really liking the fairly regular cadence of issues that I believe started when Larry got on board.  And I also think the magazine does an amazing job of integrating content from the forums here into the magazine itself - probably better than anyone else with any sort of print publication.  But now it looks like at least 4 months between issues.  I guess I have to realize that the magazine is really a bit of a hobby itself for the folks putting it together.  Hoping there is an issue 226 coming.

I rarely visit this forum and here's the perfect reason why.  Unbelievable!  Here is someone who clearly enjoys the magazine so much they have trouble waiting for the next issue and he gets slammed by the morons running (ruining) Model Cars magazine.  As a business owner I know that some customers can be harder to deal with than other but the way bobthehobbyguy has been treated is inexcusable.  if I can give bobthehobbyguy a piece of advice, stop subscribing and stop using this forum.  Taking your money away from this BS will hurt them worse than any further post on this forum.  I know that this will be the final time I ever visit.  To every staff member of Model Cars magazine, bankruptcy looks great on you.

i could have banned them. i didn't. calling the staff morons is against the rules in the same way it would be if i called him names. i dont know about anyone else but i do this voluntary because i want to give something back to a hobby that gives me a massive amount of enjoyment and i dont appreciate being called a moron. i try to be as fair as possible to everyone and i've given some of you chances to fix posts instead of putting them on moderation.

I expect the man with nearly 6000 posts has seen it all before, and gets a bit fed up with people who barely interact with the forum posting to say they don't like the forum, the magazine or the people who do all the work... "Yawn"seems pretty restrained to me....

best,

M.

You're right, we should be professional and follow the rules to a T.

So we'll do so.

For some of us, this is a hobby. For some, it is literally their career. And when those people are physically unable to do everything needed to prepare and publish an issue, what should we do? Seriously. What is the solution when an issue cannot be completed within a bi-monthly schedule? Bob seems to want it made a quarterly publication, which is kind of what it has become.

For now, be happy that the magazine isn't folding, and that new issues (yes, plural) are in the works.

We want the mag released and out there as much as you guys do. Probably more. Could we hack something together and release like clockwork? Probably. Should we? Nope.

So believe me when I say, it gets released as close to bi-monthly as we can make it. If it's delayed, it's not because anyone involved is sitting around relaxing and neglecting the mag.

But, with every issue, there's a complaint thread, and with every complaint thread, we explain the reality, and with every explanation there are people that don't accept that. And to those people, I still say that maybe you should look around and find somewhere that fits your needs more closely.

Much more appropriate answer.  Thank you.

Iamsuperdan is correct when he says members of the staff are going through health issues. Besides Gregg's back injury related issues, I went through an 8 month battle with head and neck cancer. We had to put everything we own in storage while we temporarily relocated from South Carolina to Illinois so we'd have familial support during my cancer treatment. We are back in SC now, but have not been able to get into a long term place of residence yet. In addition, during the trip back, the screen on my laptop was damaged, which will require replacement to operational again. Model Cars Magazine is a small operation, and life happens. Your patience and understanding will be appreciated. If you want to help me get up and running again sooner, I do have a GoFundMe page.

Actually it's  been 2 and a half months. And if the magazine meet its bimonthly schedule I wouldn't have to ask the question.
