Here’s the latest update on the Wintersteen Corvette. Body has a reshaped grill opening and smoothed over door handle slots. And of course the roadster body mod. The big block sets waiting for final details with my attempt at scratch built headers.

Your body work is impressive. I took the easy way out and got the Historic Racing Miniatures conversion kit. Don't know if he still produces them.

Look forward to any updates you post, always wondered what the real cars would have done if the factory would have stayed behind them.

Thank you, no the HRM is no longer available. Looked that way first. The area under the roll bar was a trip.

Like the chassis and the engine looks like the Trico Racing engines, not sure of the spelling.

Yes, it’s Traco correct for the Wintersteen car. I posted a pic below.

Hey, thanks Dann. I took a break from the DB5. Thought I would at least get this one ready for paint.
Hope you’re feeling better and waiting to see your DB5 again.

Not to be picky, but the kit didn't get the front edge of the rear fender flares correct. They should be angled toward the ground, not parallel to it. Just figured with all the trouble you have gone to on body work, I would hate for you to realize it later.

Here’s the wheels/tires I plan on using. The tires are AMs, the wheels (Revell) needed built up on the O. D. To fit.

The hood is also Revell and after getting it to fit the opening, I found the front of the mound did’ match the AM body…..a little filler.

But I do have a line on a HRM hood… a much nicer option. Also scribed in the headlight covers and a little work on the interior.

Pierre, I will post a few photos so you can see how I made the changes.

After removing most of the roof, I made an insert and glued it in the trunk area, then I reinforced it with plastic stock and two-part epoxy, being careful not to interfere with the chassis. After that, bondo was used to put the curve back in. Then the front was contoured to match the interior. The trunk was also rescribed.
If you need more, just let me know.

Thank you for your compliments.

This is a small detail but it took a lot of work. As Shark pointed out, the rear fender flair is very wrong on the AM kit.

Drivers side is nearly done, just need to fix a few scratches. The other side is close behind. Small, as I said but I think it will

look much better on the finished model.

Getting very close to paint on this one. The photos show the final rear fender shape (rev 3), the tips were extended and the edges softened.

The front parking lights (rev 2), material removed and inside edges curved.

Finally got the rear deck and roll bar done. Scoops and re-scribed trunk.

Lastly, some progress on the engine.

Thanks for looking!
