Greetings All,

I wanted to try something different with a Jo-Han S/C Rambler, (glue bomb), I found on Ebay a while back.  With all the folks here explaining the errors on the Jo-Han kit, I decided to replicate a Rambler, (American), Rogue.

After finding a damage Jo-Han 1966 Rambler American 'promo', I'm on my way.  The promo's roof and windshield were damaged, so I removed the roof and used the windshield frame from the 'glue bomb' Scrambler.  I also sanded off the emblems and cut out the hood.

After removing the engine compartment from the 'glue bomb' I grafted it to the 'promo' body.  Fortunately, both the Jo-Han kit body and their 'promo' are identical in their dimensions so all the parts from the kit will fit into the 'promo'.

To be continued..........

Nice work so far! Great to see one of these being built. I have also several of the SC/Rambler model kits, just haven't had the time to build them. :P

Are you going to graft the model kit roof to the promo body as well?

I was at first, but I decided on a convertible.  I thought a Rogue 'rag top' would be cooler.  Maybe even the 'racing stripe' that appeared in the advertising pages but never on the cars!

It's definitely something you don't see built too often, so I'd say go for it. ;)

But, Rogue was not available as Convertible in 1966. In '67 they made Rogue Convertibles, but in 1966 if you wanted a Convertible, it had to be a "standard" American. Anyway, at least the side trim on '66 American 440 Convertible is similar to the Rogue so the conversion should be fairly easy.

I was waiting for someone to spot that Niko!  I didn't want to try replicating the headlight trim that wrapped around the fenders on the '67, so I decided to stay with the '66 body style and see if anyone noticed.  Good call!  I'm going to say it was a factory 'Concept Car' and leave it at that.

That 66 Rambler is such a kewl project Joseph.  Great looking color for the ole gal.

Thanks Bob, but I was thinking about changing it to a another '66 Rambler factory color.  I am leaning toward the 'Granada Green', (metallic), with a tan interior.

A little more work at the bench,

Body has been painted. Going with a solid color instead of metallic.  Applied most of the BMF and decals.  Just about ready for the clear coat.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Finished interior.  Working on engine compartment details. Then securing interior tub to body and chassis to body.

Thanks for looking!
