Hi!

Time for another build :D This time, i wanted to try something different - 1968 Volkswagen Beetle. Kit itself is from Revell. Theres a tamiya version of it too which is actually cheaper, but i'm used to revell's kits so this is what i got. We'll see how it goes

I like your choice, I have so many bugs in my stash but I think the only one I ever built was  a 1/16th years ago with a Rolls grill.I’ll be watching.

When I hear of a Revell VW, I think of the old tooling that has been around since the sixties. Clearly this is not that. How long has this kit been around, and is it a Revell tool?

Anyway, things are looking good. The added engine details really bring it to life.

I think its been around since 2013 or so. So not that new of a kit. Seems like its the Revell's tooling - fitment is alot better than the usual Monogram stuff.

Anyway - did some more work:

First, some tape work

Then some paintwork :D

Then some sanding work

.....And priming work

And painting again :D

So, decided to do the paintjob again. The Tamiya red isnt what i hoped it was. So I stripped the body and redid everything. This time i used a new paint :D Called AE86 from Number5 paints.
Everything else was just like above.

After that, it was time for the interior. Was playing around with Mr.Hobby Masking liquid 😁

It's Revell of Germany.  Very nice kit with tons of detail that goes together very well. Similar in construction to their Trabant wagon.  Fun kit!  I'm watching your build.  I intend to build one of these as a German postal vehicle.

Anyone know if parts for the newer tooling can be interchanged easily with the older tooling?

the old tool is 1/25 while this is 1/24

I've been a bug fan for many years. First one was a 67, if you moved the floor mat the highway was visible. Moved up to a 72 Westphalia, then a 78 Rabbit. The only VW kit I have ever built was the "Flower Power" Revell kit, enough flash to mold another kit. This looks like a very clean, well molded kit. Looking forward to your build and the red really sets this one off. Keep those updates coming.
