I haven't much of one; I display my latest three builds at a time on my build table; when the next one is built, the kit displayed at the front end gets booted out and put away in the box, and I shift the cars down the line with the newest one bringing up the rear.

BUT because my 1958 Thunerbird wouldn't fit back in the box because it was too shallow for the assembled kit, I picked up a case and displayed it on my desk.

I can imagine some of you guys got some big glass cases with hundreds of builds. Curious to see what you got goin' on for your builds.

I have a built model display and an unbuilt kit storage solution that is also a display of sorts.

For built kits I really like display cabinets to keep the models as dust free as possible.

Where do you all find these nice lit display cases?  IKEA used to make a nice glass display case, but as I understand it they’re discontinued now…

I just have a couple of glass fronted antique cabinets that I display my finished projects in.

One is “desk top” book case.

The other is a book case with doors that flip up.

At some point, I would like to modify them with more shelving to display more models.

I've bought old display cases of stores either going under or remodeling.   After 50 years of building, I'm up to 13 cases that are full to overflowing.

Are your boxed kits in between the floor joist? If so, what's the OC spacing?

I recently bought an Ikea Milsbo cabinet for my cars. It looks good and is well built. The only downside is the shelves aren't adjustable. There's room for another shelf, but it would be pretty difficult to install shelf supports in new positions. It would require a lot of drilling and installing riv-nuts for the shelf supports to screw into. My airplane models are in the bonus room in a 72" tall display case I built about 30 years ago. My wife calls it The Monolith.spacer.png

No affiliation, but Carney Display Cases are great! They have several different pre-designed case sizes for 1:24, or they will build custom sizes to your specs (they make them for all kinds of collectibles, not just model cars). They’re a little pricey, but they are very high quality and look great! I have one of their “NASCAR 1:24” cases, and another I custom designed to fit taller trucks and SUVs. Both are almost full so I will need another soon!

12" on center I joists with 1x4s attached to the bottoms of the I-joists. May of the kits fit snug in between the joists. Some Revell and Monogram boxes are just a little oversize and don't fit.

Currently have 3 of these 24 car Carney cases

Plus I have a bookcase for my office / spare bedroom.

Will be ordering 1.....maybe 2 more after the holidays

Since I now work remote, I converted the spare room into an office. I dug out some built kits and put them on display. Nothing fancy & no rhyme or reason- these were just in the first couple boxes I grabbed. LOL The unbuilt kits are on my "short list" not to be confused with the stash in another room. I also collect Ford memorabilia decided to display some of that too.

I live in the desert where dust is a major issue, and even glass display cases like I see a lot of used above would allow too much dust in, so for me everything is either placed in an individual show case, or packed away. As it is, I have to dust of the cases, but much better that than the models. 😁
