Bronzekeg Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 a quick mock up with the wheels while the 5th wheel assembly is drying. for my taste I'm liking what I'm seeing. I have decided to order stripes for the cab. if they come and I don't like them I'll mask and paint yellow stripes. also need to place an order for heat shields and wipers. fuel tanks are ready for paint. front engine mount needs a little grinding to center fan in the radiator. that's it for now. 4
Pete68 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) Ken your welcome. The wheels are really setting it off now Edited January 2 by Pete68 1
BK9300 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Good progress, Ken - such a rich looking colour on the frame. 2

Bronzekeg Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 I got the wheel hubs painted and the fuel tanks were steel wooled then sprayed testors chrome. still need to detail the straps. 2
Bronzekeg Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 I got the engine located and driveshaft shortened and found out I need to lengthen the fan base coming off the pulley. somehow I missed that measurement. 2
Bronzekeg Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 currently I am painting the air cleaner and inlet pipe. 2
Bronzekeg Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 I think with a couple of cuts the exhaust piping might work. I need to have the stacks mounted first though and I'm waiting on heat shields for that. 3
Bronzekeg Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 the intake pipe from the air cleaner to the turbo [ foreground ] is no way even close to working. it will be a total scratch build. 4

Bronzekeg Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 with the doors cut out of the cab I was able to mark and cut the interior bucket. also mark the windshield to cut later. cuts were made using a razor hand saw. I have decided to make the interior all black. 3
Bronzekeg Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 while waiting on an order in the mail the chassis is about as far as I can go with it. so, I went ahead and carefully filed the doors and cab for the hinges. all mating surfaces on the hinges were roughed up using a file to give the super glue gel something to bite to. 4
Bronzekeg Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 while not truly to scale the hinges look acceptable once completely installed. the time they get paint and stripes you'll never notice them. that's all for this update. I think the cab looks great with the doors put back in. 4
BK9300 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Good job with the hinges - you have them tucked in very neatly. Sure will add to your overall detailing by being able to see your interior detail better! 1
Pete68 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Your welcome Ken. Like Brian said your hinge work is neat and tidy and your moving along with this at a good pace. 1
Jürgen M. Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Hinges look nice! Always a tough job integrating those! 1
