k100 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 (edited) After being frustrated with International build I set it aside for now , I thought I would build another 86” Aerodyne got the cab cut apart and put back together , shorted the frame , made a steerable front axle , cut the step pockets off and removed the molded on KENWORTH letters. Here is a quick mock up . Thanks for looking Edited December 15, 2024 by k100 7
Old Buckaroo Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Nice - it seems forever since anyone has done the poseable front axle. I like the 86" truck length, something different and out of the box. Good to see your still here posting Mark. 2
Biggu Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 This is cool…… I see there is a square quad headlight up grade for the KW cabover too. I really like the shorty version. This has great possibilities , looking forward to seeing this one come together …. 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Interesting! So this is actually a single bunk cab with an aerodyne roof? Been away from the US too long it seems! I'll be watching! 2
Rockford Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 That's really good work there, you'd never know how it started out. Great job on the front axle too, just hope it's strong enough. That would take me months! 2
Pete68 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Nice job again on this conversion. There’s something I like better on the 86’ bunk than the standard one. Great job on the Posable steering I’ll be falling along. 1

You know it's more than the square headlights that's different between a K100C and K100E do you? The grille is more squareish on the E model, the front of the cab is further forward so the windshields leans more backwards on the E, later K100E's also has more setback front axle. All K100E's also has the Aerodyne style dash board. Nice start Mark.👍 Edited December 18, 2024 by Force 2

Force Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Just now, Biggu said: No I didn’t. Not a cab over guy, personally. I just saw the upgrade and thought it was kind of cool …. Well now you know. 😉 Many just think it's only the square headlights but as you see it's more, the overall length of the K100E cab wich came 1985 is 3 inches longer than the C, the windshields was angeled back 3 degrees more. If you see a K100E you will notice the headlights sits further in than on the C model due to the modifications of the front.

Well, the only KW cab over I’ve driven was a ‘63 day cab with a 12513 and a 225 Cummins, not a real pleasant ride as I recall. 1

I drove a 1992 Kenworth K-100 single bunk flat top in 1996 and in 1992 I drove this truck a Kenworth K-100 Golden Nugget. That’s the owner and his step son in the pic they were friends of our family. I was 24 years old at the time. He was behind 2 payments and asked my employer at the time I was driving for “which they were friends also “ if I could team with him for a week and I agreed because he was exhausted trying to make as many runs as he could to catch up. It was a Beautiful truck inside and out. Edited December 19, 2024 by Pete68 2
k100 Posted December 23, 2024 Author Posted December 23, 2024 Thank you every one for the comments. Sean glad to see your back on the forum as well , this axle is one of the easier one to modify. Gray thank you Jeff I seen the square lights I like the old school round ones Juergen thank you. Steve thank you. Lee this my 2nd conversion , it was a lot easier this time , that’s nice looking Golden Nugget. Hakan thank you for all information . The mounting pins for the cab hinges are horrible I used some 1/8 styrene tubing glued to the frame and I used 1/16 aluminum tube for the pins (it will be shorten) . Got some of the rear suspension built. The front bumper is to narrow so I’m trying to make a wider one , we’ll see out it turns out . The last 2 pictures are of the first conversation I did a few years ago . I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas . 9

k100 Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Thank you all for the comments. After the crazy busy holidays I was able to get a little model time today , I decided to go with the Detroit with Manuel transmission did alittle pluming on the engine , made new fuel tanks out of PVC, modified the battery box by cutting the molding in battery out and added plastic sheets to the bottom and back . I’m going with 2 hole Buds in the back from ST supply and 10 hole in the front from Jamie . thanks 5
k100 Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Thanks guys , I worked on getting the engine finished up just some basic pluming still have to do some weathering on it . 6
k100 Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Thank you Lee. I order the K100 dash from Texas 3d Customs, it a Beauty . I made 2 air tanks and added some bolt detail that’s about it for now . thanks for looking . 5
gotnitro? Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Looking good so far ! Like those pvc tanks, so much cleaner than fighting w seams The printed dash is really well done, didn't realize they offered one

I was doing some research on my Mack R the other day and found this and thought about you so I saved it in case you haven’t seen it. This was the debut picture AMT/Matchbox used when they came out with the Kenworth Areodyne in 1980 they used a 86” sleeper pic. Edited January 13 by Pete68

The lip at the bottom is so it can be used on both the AMT and Revell kits, so it has to be trimmed to fit.
