David G. Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Hello Everybody! This is Aoshima's London Black Cab. As near as I can tell, this kit represents the 1968 Austin FX-4 London Taxi. The kit is nicely but simply rendered though it has a decent amount of detail. But why does the cover art have a burgundy colored cab?  😕   For those who may be interested in the gritty details of how all of this came together, I have a complete build thread in the WIP section. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/195074-london-black-cab-by-aoshima-wip/ Now, on with the show! Cover Shot!   Right Side   Right Rear Quarter   Rear with hand painted "Austin" badge  That's it for this round, I'll have more later. Once I get the rest of the shots edited. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post your comments and questions. David G. 6
Jim B Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Nicely done. I remember those, or their similar replacements, when I was in London in 1987.
customline Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Yay! 😀. Nice build, David, with all the improvements and the care taken on this esoteric subject.
karbuildr Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Very cool build. Not something seen every day which makes it unique.

BK9300 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Very good job on an uncommon, but interesting, subject - well done!

Thank you Keith. It is a good kit, if just a little basic. With the axle bushings, battery box and hole in the chassis for the power switch, one can really see its origins as "toy build" kit. 70 Sting Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Me likey. 🖤  At first glance at your display cabinet photo, it looked like the cab was stuck in rush hour traffic.  :^) Merry Christmas

That's the first time anyone thought the cars in my display case reminded them of a traffic jam.  That's funny! Marry Christmas to you too. David G. 1
