Hey all

I'm starting this post now, even thou I'm still working on my IH Payhauler 350.

I'm just starting this because I will be doing some work on this when I burn out on the Payhauler. This is the kit and my ideas for it.

20241218_120055.jpgThis is the kit I'm starting with.

20241220_123233.jpgThese are from Jamie at Mo'luminum. There Bridgestone M844 425/65R 22.5 floats.

20241220_124813.jpgThese are from Jamie also Michelin XDVS 11.0R 22.5 drive tires.

20241220_124905.jpgThis wheels are from Paul at ST Supply.

20241220_150409.jpgThis is the engine I'm going to be using. It's from Jamie and it's a Detroit Diesel 12V71N two stroke.

20241220_170751.jpgThis view shows it assembled with a Mack 13/18 spd. Transmission.

20241216_161904.jpgThis view shows what the chassis is going to look like. This the extra set of frame rails that come in the kit,not the Canadian spread axle frame rails. Well that's it for now.

I will be jumping on this off and on while I'm working on my IH Payhauler 350.

I have a front row seat for this beauty Ron …….. I really like the vision you have…. I really need to find one of these kits at a reasonable price.  Can't wait to see how this comes together.

Hey all

For me the biggest challenge for this build is going to be stretching the hood to fit over that massive 12V71🤔

Hood fix.jpgI'm not sure if I should use two Revell hoods to make one or scratch build one? I'm stumped so any help from the peanut gallery would be greatly appreciated.

The kit hood is actually short vs the real truck Clyde II by a fair amount. Somewhere there was an article about a modeler correcting it. I recall he scratched the longer portion of the hood. Maybe Scale Auto magazine was where I saw it...I'm sure someone here can say

So, question guys, was this motor ever offered in the Pete or KW? And I have seen trucks (Pete’s and KWs) with what I thought was a longer hood, but could not verify.

Hey Gary

Yes it was available in both Pete's and KW's. It was really not the reason for the long (extended) hood, but it was definitely needed to fit this beast in.

You see them in KW 900L's more then Pete's. I just thought it would look really cool in my Pete project. 😎

I gave up all social media as well, sometimes I think I miss stuff, but not worth to rejoin.

I found the article from Tim Ahlborn on lengthening a Peterbilt 119" BBC into a 127" BBC hood. I have two Revell Peterbilt 359 hoods, so I think I can pull it off. I just need to print the pictures and follow his instructions. Easy pessy Japanesey. OPPS! I just gave away my age...lol😁

Very nice buzzin dozen. Looking forward to the hood mods. I suppose if you have twin air cleaners you could plumb one into each supercharger.

Hey Rockford

You may have a good idea there. I didn't even think of that, and I think it's a damn good idea. This forum is great for truck builders!👍👍👍😉😁

You better install Dual Pyrometer one for each bank for that Big DD. 😂

Hello fellow modelers.

Well you all wanted to see this. So here we go. "How to lengthen a Revell Peterbilt 359 hood" by me, yeah the old guy.🧓

20241224_133735.jpgOkay, this view shows that the kit hood is actually 61" long. Not 60" like it should be. The tape is for my cut line. I'm removing 3" (scale) this will become clear in a minute.

20241224_134007.jpgThis view shows that the openings for the two air cleaners are about 9" deep into the hood sides. So I'm cutting 10" off the sacrificial hood to add to the good hood that I previously cut 3" off of. So let's see 61" - 3" = 58" + 10" from the other hood = 68" Ta da.

20241224_134403.jpgThis view shows the sacrificial hood to the right and the good hood on the left. As you can see it will be 68" long when I attach them together.

20241224_134412.jpgThis view shows them sitting together, not attached yet. As you can see it's now 68" long. Perfect for a 127" BBC hood.

20241224_135002.jpgThis got out of order. It shows the tape cut line to remove the 10" need for the good hood.

20241224_140145.jpgVoula! It's glued together now. And now I just need to fill in the left over air cleaner openings and sand it down and it will be ready for primmer.

20241224_140152.jpgClose up view of the joint.

20241224_140825.jpgHere it is sitting in place with the cab.

20241224_140831.jpgAnother view of them sitting together. Well I did it! It wasn't really as hard as I thought it was going to be. So now I can move on to finishing the whole truck.

Well that's it for now, be back when I can get some more work done on this build.
