kelson Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Hey everyone back on the bench, haven't built anything Mopar in a long time, decided to build a Coronet R/T using a old transkit from PSF Hobbies. But had problems right from the start, the transkit had 2 scoops for the passenger side,😡luckily i bought 2 and the other was okay. However the scoops were way to large!rather than give up i cut the scoops into sections then sanded them down and reglued them. Have the chassis semi complete 3
kelson Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 Part 2,the body is painted k5 deep burnt orange from Scalefinishes, adding a vinyl roof to. Going with a tan interior, doing the bmf/woodgrain was tough,i covered the area with bmf first ,then applied some light sand as a base for the woodgrain decals,i used the same technique on the console and shifter and the dashboard, thats it for now. 4
Steamboat Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 I built this a long time ago when it first came out. Be sure to test fit the engine to hood clearance. I could not get the air cleaner to fit. It might have just been me. IDK if they fixed the issue or not on later versions. 1
slusher Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Very nice Curtis, I am liking the color choices and interior! 1
espo Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Great looking body and interior paint schemes. 1
Mopar - D Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Curtis I like details on your interior and nice choices on your colors. What color are you going with for the top? 1

beeRS Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Burnt Orange and tan interior is a great combo. Very nice work so far. 1
slusher Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Curtis, May I ask how you do your wood grain? 1

kelson Posted Wednesday at 01:19 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:19 AM Time for a couple updates, i added seatbelts and flocking to the interior. I airbrushed a little Tamiya clear blue on the windshield. Next up the wheels and tires,i used some Fireball decals on the kit tires, i also added wheel weights and valve stems. Next up the tailights, painted Tamiya Matt black i used bmf on the lettering first then used a little thinner to remove the black paint after.I used a tamiya silver sharpie for the area around the taillights. 2
kelson Posted Wednesday at 01:26 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:26 AM Part2 of my updates, body is painted and cleared and applied the decals, but the decals didn't want to curl around the body that well, even after lots of decal softener was applied!😡 The engine is installed,i had to modify the exhaust since i put in a Hemi,i used Alclad Hot metal Sepia to heat stain the exhaust. That's it for now. 3
slusher Posted Wednesday at 01:56 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:56 PM You have a gorgeous Mopar going, Curtis! 1

Keef Posted Wednesday at 10:43 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:43 PM Awesome looking build of my all time favorite Mopar!! A tiny bit of advice if I may. The wheels in the kit are meant to be the Rally wheels with trim rings. The wheel weights would be behind the trim rings instead of on them. 3

I’ll be honest I agree too it’s a small detail and just move them to the back side 2
