Revell 007 Aston Martin DB5

I received the kit for Christmas. I opened it up and checked it out. Much to my dismay the body was not bagged. It is scratched in 4 places, swirls around some places, the gray was not consisted and I can see where the hot plastic flowed. The right rear quarter panel is distorted. The body is garbage and unusable. I sent in a replacement parts request to Revell. Let's see what kind of response I get.

I can't get pictures of the scratches because its silver scratches on a silver body. This is only one that showed up

SHOUT OUT TO Moebius. The missing tires from my Comet Caliente are to the way. 

I hope Revell replaces my 007 body.

Swirls and uneven colors are not uncommon on kit bodies and sometimes some scratches too because bagging a kit body separate is a fairly new thing, earlier everything was in the same bag except for the glass and chrome wich was unbagged at the bottom of the box, sometimes even the glass was in the same bag as all the other parts and was scratched up too, so that was expected when you bought a kit.
These things doesn't matter much, just sand off the scratches and of course the mold lines on the body and paint with primer and paint and you will not see the swirls and scratches on the finished model, so that's not a big deal, but if the body is distorted it's another thing and would be replaced, but you can still expect it to have swirls and uneven colors because it's how the plastic flows in the mold.
I never do a build with bare plastic even if it's colored, I paint everything because as I said, swirls and uneven colors are not uncommon on model kits and it never look good.

I agree with Force. Scratches are the least of your problems with this kit's body. Revell did not do a good job with this body moulding: sink marks, deep mold lines and the roofline shape is too flat. All fixable but plan to sand, fill, sand again and prime...

Got my answer from Revell. This kit is no longer in production, and we have no replacement parts available. Pierre I am looking forward to sand, fill, sand again and prime.

It looks like the newest version of corporate Revell, has a different take on what is an acceptable duration of kit availability. LOL

I wonder if it’s a licensing issue… limited duration or production numbers, so it was a one and done deal, and they’d have to stump up more cash if they want to make more.

I had not thought of that. But, then why go to the trouble of all new tooling if you have a limited time to sell/numbers to sell?
