crazyjim Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 The kit can be built as a '39 or '40 and I chose to go the '39 route. Exhaust is molded into the chassis so I cut out the floorboards and replaced with flat styrene. While I was under there I put together an aluminum rod exhaust with aluminum tubing mufflers and tips. Side and rear glass was replaced with yellow acetate. The kit engine looked small under the hood so in went a wired tunnel ram setup. Paint is HOK sunrise pearl. 10
karbuildr Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Nice, very nice. I really like the color and detailing.
slusher Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 (edited) Great colors build you might have too cut the hood to get it to close".. Edited December 28, 2024 by slusher Spelling
70 Sting Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Super paint job! Nice work on the exhaust. Engine looks sweet, too. What gauge wire did you use for the throttle spring? It’s nice and tight.
Zippi Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Nice looking 39 Ford Jim. Great looking color.
crazyjim Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 Thank you David, Carl, Chris, Harry, and Bob. Throttle spring is 30awg wire stripped of the coating. I got it at Radio Shack years ago.
Monty Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Congrats on another great build! That may be one of my all time favorite shades of gold. Question: I looked up these HOK paints and they're way out of my price range. Even the 4 oz bottle is over $35.00. Is there a cheaper way to buy these or do I just need to suck it up and save up?
espo Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Great looking paint color and finish. Nice looking engine. Like the wheel & tires plus the stance.
crazyjim Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 Thank you Monty, David, and Larry. Monty, I'm used to buying HOK paints from Coast Airbrush in 2 oz pre-mixed bottles. Those are gone and replaced by 4 oz bottless nad they are expensive. I'm looking for a new paint and may go to Tru-Color from Arizona Hobbies. I've used Tru-Color before with success and they have more colors available now.
Hmann68 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Very nice, great color! 39-40 fords are so cool. Great work 👍
crazyjim Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 Thank you John, Christopher, and Andy.
XYHARRY Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Nice that you did the 39 format as so many are done as the 40. Well done Jim. Cheers, David. 😎👍
crazyjim Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Thank you David. that was my plan to do the '39 style.
Sam I Am Posted January 9 Posted January 9 That is beautiful. I have built the other two amt offerings, but not the sedan.
