M W Elky Posted January 1 Posted January 1 For this build I used a comp resin Camaro body on top of the Revell 1969 Hawaiian mini charger Funny car chassis headers : polar lights window glass : 0.10 sheet clear plastic paint : Tamyia clear blue over pearl white decals : slixx body tins are from the Hawaiian kit cut down to fit the comp body . Overall this build looks really good however I’m not really thrilled with the body proportions of the comp resin camaro , and have since been making my own body’s from the AMT Camaro by simply moving the front wheel wells forward. As for the cover all I can say is how much do we miss the fire burn outs of the early 70’s a time of excitement . As you never knew what you were about to experience on your drag race visit . When it was showmanship over corporate sponsorship dollars. Although today’s high speed funny car shows are pretty amazing . I would love to go back to the grittiness of the early to mid 70’s with the likes of Jungle Jim and all the other compadres who could really pack the house . It was like one big party. Until next time thanks for looking . Mike 4
dragcarz Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I’m with you Michael, I was lucky enough to get to participate in those circus’. Still holding on to those days. I agree with your take on the Comp Resin bodies, I’d like to see your progress on that Camaro body.

The jungle Jim body was made from the early 90’s ertl reissue the red body is made from the current orange hobby lobby special. I made my bodies to fit with the mpc mustang or challenger funny car chassis and body tins . The red body will become the Broadway Freddie car 1
dragcarz Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Your modified bodies look much more accurate to my eye, thank you for sharing your ideas. I may try that myself, great work!
Chris in Berwyn Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) Very nice! Coincidentally, I am getting ready to build the jungle Camaro myself. To get ready, I am building the Revell Hawaiian right now so that I can figure out what modifications to make when I build my second one and have to adapt the tin and the Camaro body to fit. Some of those comp resin bodies do have slightly strange proportions. I have a resin Camaro body that I bought off eBay years ago. No idea who the caster was, but it looks pretty good.
