kensar Posted January 5 Posted January 5 In the early 1920s, a conversion kit was available to convert the Ford Model T into a snowmobile. The kit cost about as much as the car itself and was sold in the New England area, mostly to postal workers, doctors, firemen, etc., people that had to get out when the weather was bad. I was interested in making a model of these machines a few years ago. I started with an AMT Model T but the project stalled soon after starting as I had no way to make the tracks. Recently, I got into CAD design and 3D printing, so this project became feasible. I acquired a ICM Model T Roadster, which was a better kit, but of an older Model T. The build thread is here: Photographing this model was difficult due to it being gloss black with white tires and silver tracks. The camera just doesn't have the latitude, but here are the pictures. I hope you find this as interesting a subject as I do. Thanks for looking in. 16

Zippi Posted January 6 Posted January 6 What a Great looking build that made the finish line Ken. I couldn't even imagine back in the day traveling 20 miles down an old country dirt road that is snow covered to make a house call. Just a Great looking build. 1
espo Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I have only seen photos of these early Fords done in this fashion, but your model looks very correct to those photos. I like the clean finishes on your build. 1
mustang1989 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 For some reason I thought I'd already posted on this but .......it doens't look like it went through. Fantastic subject that I never knew existed outside a Christmas claymation favorite growing up. Your take on this turned out to be a real treat to the eyes buddy. Great work!! 1

Sam I Am Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Beautiful job! I grew up with Model T Fords and a number of years ago, on another forum, I mentioned that I wanted to build one of these. A few days later this showed up in the mail. He had built one a few years before that, and sent it to me as a gift. 3
