This is a first for me a kit I was going to make almost stock but modified as a board track racer like you would see in it's day. It seems AMT repackage the old 1925 model t kit this is what I'm using three issue when I was young I made the bucket ts with a big blown motor never a four banger so now I'm going to attempted with this project.

Going to be an interesting project. IDK, sitting on top of a fuel tank in a car with wooden floorboards, racing on a wooden track, is just a bit more adventurous than I want to be. Looking forward to updates.

Hey Rick

Thank you for the compliment I hope you liked it. I guess you don't know about model Ts the fuel tank is under the seat in a stock car all model Ts have wood floors even under the fuel tank the wood they used was Oak wood it made a good strong wood and was plenty of it at the right price the scrap was given to Charles King who worked for Henry Ford. Mr King developed a process to take the oak and turn it into a charcoal and Charles offered Henry a partnership and Henry turned him down and told him to keep Charles Henry give him permission to use his name and that's where Kingsford charcoal comes in the world every model T sold got a bag Kingsford charcoal. For those Sunday picnics so they can cook a meal. Getting back to your comment about wooden track yes a wooden track with a wooden track you can bank the corners for more speed and cars had to have white tires to so they made no marks on floors with no roll bar or seat belts weeee. I just didn't like the plastic wood from the kit with this build I did have Oak but the grain of the wood not be right I'm using maple wood for scale the grain would be right.

You should see the documentary (Where they race) this inspired me to do this car this documentary the one they didn't bring up was the signal Hill climb drag race for 4 bangers early cars a quarter mile hill stock and modified the one I went to they had some guy in a model t center door that couldn't go up forward so he turned around and went up it backwards reverse has more power than forward on hills.

Another documentary that I thought was really good was the Ken Burns documentary on Henry Ford that was fantastic it showed what kind of a person Henry Ford was to me it was almost as bad as I better not say but. He had a fantastic education system for his employees that were immigrants from other countries to teach them how to work and be able to have housing working and going to school for Henry Ford if you do some digging of old books you'll sometimes run across old text books from Henry Ford.

I grew up in Southern California in fact in the LA county from 50s to 80s in Altadena is magical you found old cars in yards and garages Altadena was the Palm springs of Hollywood in its day now 😢😢😢 I remember seeing forest fires but I've never seen one like this one my town is now gone. If you know the kid enclosed is a photo of the instructions for the stock interior if you look at it you'll find it does have slots.IMG_20250111_143638.jpg.782a1d463541493c77c2c6745923428f.jpg

I had a neat old board-track book years ago, with artist illustrations. Some tracks were quite large and the cars were far from slow.

The wood planks would get damaged, racers had to avoid the holes. One driver talked about daredevil kids sticking their heads up from the bottom of the track through the holes.

The 1926 Ford Model T that Clarence Lamb owned and that I worked on had the fuel tank in the turtle deck from the factory. It was the first year for electric start and head lights. 6V battery too. I could hand crank it faster than that battery could turn it over.

That's true but I'm trying to work with what I had in the kit and I'm not having fenders or headlights. I only wish I had a 31 motor for it for one thing they have gear in the transmission. The fuel tank I wanted to show it because I was going to have a fuel pressure pump with the lines going in the tank. Nobody makes too much speed equipment for four banger so I have to make everything I've been in touch with a lot of the aftermarket suppliers and that's what I kept on finding nobody makes it they consider not profitable they're sort of right everybody is like me when I was young putting big monstrous rat motors in everything and I didn't want that's why I put this is a first for me I'm almost 80.

That second part of your comment I kind of forgot about that part with the kids I thought it was rather funny I wonder how many got their heads knocked off. 😢🤣🤭

Oh I think you understand what I'm trying to do with your comment. What I'm looking for Google search does not understand every photo that they're giving me is everything but they're giving me modern stuff and I don't want modern stuff I want old stuff so I can reproduce it.

nice looking build. There are Fronenac speed parts for model T four bangers in the AMT 1927 model-T phaeton kits (at least thin the XR6 double kit. Laurel and Hrady, and vintage police car versions for sure) and there were Model A speed parts in the double kit of the Ala Kart and Model A. From Revell. the 31  Model A sedan and '29 model A pick-up have four banger speed parts. Both Revell kits used the same parts, possibly Ansen?
