Vertical doors

Hi there, im going to start building a model of my 1:1 corvette of how i want it to look when done.

I'ts going to end up with vertical doors one day, so i decided maybe i should go ahead and put them on the model.

Heres the kit im going to get for my car eventually.

In the second to last photo, it shows the "hinge open" i need help desigining the part that keeps the two peices together, any ideas of what to use?

also if any body could, i need help figuring out how to make my amp box,

what would be easier, just cutting out thin strips and building up a wall on the sides, or making a wall out of one piece and try to get the cuts straight?
