May be an image of hood ornament

Iceman Collections had posted this image to Facebook along with the news that Moebius has confirmed a reissue. Fantastic news for fans of these highly detailed fat-fenders.

This is Great News!

Not just because they will be re-issued, but because that means the tooling will not fade into oblivion. Glad to see them in their new home.

Great news. I have all of 'em I really need except the notchback, but if they come back, I'll probably buy more of the rest too.

There's so much you can do with these...   :D

EDIT: Asking for the notchback coupe is anywhere from about $100 to $250, so it'll be great to have lower cost options again.

And this time, I'll buy a few before they're all gone.  :D

That's excellent news!

Hoping the 48 Sedan Delivery comes back. I traded on of those away a few years ago, and I still kick myself.

Still have a couple of the trailers in the stash though.

This is truly wonderful news - Hopefully we'll see the Coupé, Sedan Delivery and the proposed Convertible kit return as well!

Frankly I can't think of a better brand than Moebius to carry on the production of these great automotive kits.

I have only built the Aero Sedan and thought it was great. Would love to do another along with the coupe and the delivery.

I have them all....not a Chevy guy so never built one.....go together well.......???

They go together quite well, but keep in mind they are older kits are were not modern CAD designed kits.  The "I don't glue the bodies on my kits and only snap them over the chassis" crowd will not be happy with how the breakdown between the front fender clip and body goes, and you REALLY have to glue the main body to the floor/firewall to get them to sit properly.  As much as we'd love to tweak a few tabs & fit issues, the tooling can not be modified - only run as is.  The only thing we were able to get done is to have a protective runner added to one sprue around the frame so that hopefully the bumper mounts won't get broken so often (a problem with the original kits - ask me how I know......)

The build up shown in the first post took me about two days to put together, but that's making notes, proofreading the instructions, and answering the continual stream of in store customers saying "Hey, they let you build models at work?!?"

More to follow

I knew that Moebius acquired these a few years back. I had hoped for a quicker release of these, but all good things take time, especially in the hobby world. I have a couple of these and I certainly will get another one. I miss Gary Schmidt greatly and this is a legacy of his commitment to the hobby. He was a good friend and he always let me come around the office and hang out a bit. I also wrote and illustrated the Model Behavior comic strip in his second magazine.

Did Moebius or someone else add some parts along the way? I don't recall the spotlight in the original issue, and possibly a couple other things on that new builtup?

Hi Erik. What are the possibilities of the coupe and sedan delivery kits being reintroduced? Also, the aero sedan without the wood trim?

I built the delivery sedan, coupe and aero sedan.  Probably my 3 favorite kits as I remember seeing these vehicles on the road often while growing up.  The next door neighbor had the coupe as a daily driver.  They go together without any major problems.  The one major change I made had to do with the poor quality (in my opinion), of the chrome decal type accent strips.  I replaced them with homemade ones using thicker styrene rod stocked shaped to duplicate the decals and BMF foil.

Spotlights were always there, but they are optional parts.  You've got to drill a hole in the A column to fit them, and have a steady hand.....

Pretty good.  The wood trim is optional (but I needed to make sure it fit fine (it did - both sides!))

As already stated, this is great news.  I hope they will also consider doing others such as the '48 Pontiac Streamliner (long wheelbase) or Torpedo (short wheelbase) sedan-coupe (Pontiac's name for this body style).  Here is my Dad's '48 Streamliner:

This one has been in the works for some time now; glad to hear it is now official from Erik.

In addition to very big kudos due to Erik and the Mobius team, others include the Gary Schmidt estate (especially Gary's widow Linda, so I have been told by others), Matt from Spotlight Hobbies if I am remembering correctly and possibly/probably others as well.  My understanding (primarily from third parties) is that there were a lot of moving parts on this one, and it is a credit to all involved that the tooling has been secured and will be produced again.  Sure hope we make it worth their efforts when the kits become available again.  Yeah!   tB

There was talks a few years ago of a convertible version of that kit.

Any news about that?

Personnaly, I'd LOVE to get a 2-doors town-sedan version of that kit.

I have 2 of the Galaxie kits I picked up for a decent price. But with bad decals, Hobby Heaven had new ones.

I'm looking forward to building them both. It is nice to seeing them being reissued.

The AMT Streaker AWB will be the last kit I buy.

No wait! The Moebius '65 Barracuda will be the last kit I buy.

No wait! The Atlantis '57 Nomad will be the last kit I buy.

No wait! The Moebius Coronet AWB will be the last kit I buy.

No wait! The Moebius '48 Chevy Coupe will be the last kit I buy.
