WillyBilly Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Does anyone offer services to air brush paint the exterior of a model projects for those who do not have the tools, or experience to do it themselves? I am great with a Testors rattle can. I even have a homemade paint booth. However, I have three models coming up needing air brushed camouflage done correctly, and I do not own an air brush kit, nor possess the experience to use it. Also, I do not want to camo the way I did as a kid. Back then I just hand painted it. I might break down and buy a decent air brush, and compressor and learn to use it in the future but for now I was wondering if anyone offers their air brush paint ability as a side gig? These would be the three. My own m1009 K5 3/4 ton An m1008 1-1/4 ton And a M880 dodge 1 ton
Carmak Posted January 25 Posted January 25 First off, I have no problem with farming out paint jobs. My first thought would be to attend and possibly joint a local chapter of the IPMS (International Plastic Modelers Society). These chapters are essentially individual model clubs. They are open to all model builders (cars/trucks/military/ships/aircraft/space/fantasy) and they typically tend to be more military oriented. Aside from the in-person comradery the chapters often have build sessions and/or training sessions. I would be cautiously optimistic that you could find someone at an IPMS meeting that could either paint your camo jobs or show you how to do it yourself. I belong to two local IPMS chapters and have made many great friends and learned a ton.
