freightshaker2 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Moving it over to the under glass. Brought it up to the office for display. It's safer here than home around a 4yr old or the cats. This is probably my favorite setup I've built. Started life as the alaskan hauler. Molotow chrome for all the shiny stuff. I have the passenger tank relocated under the sleeper with the passenger side step box put in its rightful place. I used tall rubber just because it looks alittle more accurate and looks nicer i think. Decals were printed myself. Trailer is pretty much by the book except the decals. Thanks for Looking! 8
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Very nice looking rig! Nice work! I agree that the taller rubber looks better. I wish that we had more options in 24.5” tires and wheels.
freightshaker2 Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 Thanks guys! Usually I build based off trucks Ive seen over the years. Decided to use a different subject and something cool and classic. I'm happy with it since I haven't been building much in a few years. Something to kick out the cobwebs
Force Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) Nice. It looks like you did the 1974 truck based on how the air cleaners look, the 1973 truck also used in the movie had chrome top and bottom, there are more differences between them also but... And for the rubber, the movie trucks had 22 inch wheels, not 20 wich are in the kits, so more rubber looks better. But you need to paint the KW hood pull emblem, they were gold with black KW letters, rings and stripes on both movie trucks. Edited February 1 by Force
BK9300 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Nice looking build, Landon - hope the cleaners know not to move your truck!
leafsprings Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Great job on the movie truck, you did Snowman justice! LIke the door handle decals to update the older AMT cab!

That's something I didn't even realize that I never got to the kw bug on the hood. I'll have to fix that. 1
freightshaker2 Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Thanks everybody for the words. It feels really good to build and get back on here. I have been looking and seeing all of the awesome stuff built and it just makes me wanna build more. I wish I had more room at home or a bigger office!

Well I have researched the Smokey And The Bandit for quite some time as it's on my build list, and I can see directly wich of the two trucks they used in the movie for the scene. They are similar but very different if you go into details.

I will do that eventually. it took me a long time to set the time aside to get this one finished. coming up in the WIP section I will post some pictures of another project I have been working on. just trying to find the time and the drive to keep going on them. some days adulthood just doesn't let me.
