M W Elky Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I’ve had this one in progress for about ten years now . Rewind ten years ago I got a bunch of heavily discounted resin drag car bodies. There were two Torino bodies in the mix . A couple of years earlier I had acquired decals for the Coleman car plus the Kansas badman . So I painted one in Tamyia Italian red and the other Tamyia Bright Red . At this time I picked up a couple Polar Lights Mustang funny cars to bee the parts donors. Then time and sidetrack ions kept happening for ten years then low Ann behold AMT reissues the MACH WON kit . Come last December I’m in Wal-Mart of all places and they had a nicely stocked holiday Round - 2 display among it was the MACH WON kit a real bargain at $ 25.95 .So I bought two thinking i can use the 1970 bodies for some Pro Stock projects coming up. Now I’m here with these leftover short wheel base funny car chassis .So I dusted off the resin Italian Red body lengthened the chassis swapped out the engine block and four speed for a engine block with the appropriate automatic transmission sourced from the MPC MALCO GASSER MUSTANG. The interior tin fit the resin body nicely without any trimming. I had already purchased a new set of decals from Chuck Boener which were way superior to the ones I already had. For apparent reasons this is a tough issue of model car since to come by. In my opinion the rear slicks that came with the MACH WON kit are to small for this era funny car . Every slick in my tire box were way bigger or pie crust. So I went with the ones that came with the kit. I did replace the front tires with smaller ones. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike 4
