Zippi Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I finished this one up earlier this morning. Just a re-cap...this was the model I dropped so a rebuild was in order. The original body was damaged from me using lacquer thinner to try and remove the paint after all other avenues had been tried. The new body was supplied by my Buddy Terry Wilson and the decals came from another good friend Roger S. Painted with Tamiya Gloss black and cleared with Splash Paints 2K Clear. It was then wet sanded, polished, and waxed. The only thing different from the original build is I painted the tires with Tamiys Rubber Black, painted the photo etched grille gold to match the gold lettering, new and different decals, and new glass. That was the second time I applied decals as the first set just would not stick. The second set I used Tamiya Mark Set decal solution and things worked out fine. Andrew McD Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Black paint is such a challenge and you've nailed it on this one. It never occurred to me to paint the tires with rubber black, it's quite effective. When I was a kid I was a Mazmanian fan and my best friend was an S,W,&C fan; always made for some fun rivalry. Gassers forever!

Gassers forever! Thanks man. Haha...Gassers forever. Yeah, kit tires just look like plastic to me and the rubber black paint really brings them to life.
