I went looking for some parts today. What happened to Police Model Cars .com and Custom Squads?  Did someone buy them out or are they just gone to the wind?

Any suggestions for good lightbars and aftermarket police and rescue stuff?

Both online stores shut down last year for good. Policecarmodels was due to the owner retiring from the business and Custom Squads was due to health issues.

Your best bet for police parts are 3D-printed pieces being offered on ebay or through various facebook groups.

Thanks. Hated to see them go. They both had some great products. Wished someone would have picked up where they left off.

I agree, especially for Custom Squads.

A lot of what Policecarmodels had is either readily available through other websites or was old stock that was probably running low anyhow. Still sad to see them gone.

Thanks for that info. I guess it had been a while since I was on the sites. I bought several low profile aero light bars for some projects I was doing, and it took me a while to build them all. Now I'm starting on a new project and need one of those oval jet sonic type light bars. Guess I can find a cheap goon car or TJ Hooker car off of Ebay and rob the light bar from it.

If you run across any good stores like these two sites, I mentioned, I hope you will pass them on. We could use a couple good stores to replace those that we lost. Hate that we lost them.

I knew that policecarmodels site redirected users to blackdogdiecast.com for a while, and seemed to be selling some stuff. It looks like BlackDog's eBay store is still around but they have next to nothing.

Their ebay site is only listing some overstock items they find from time to time in their old storage areas. No replenished stocks.

Too bad. Custom Squads made some great stuff, and Rosa was very nice and helpful with getting my order together. I am glad I got some of their Caprice/impala stuff and decals.

In the defense biz...this was known as vanishing-vendors.

We would get a spares order on an older job and find out that some of our vendors were out of business.

Or they were absorbed by another company. So we had to ferret that information out.

I had compiled a database of who bought out who, or what sort of merger went on, and we didn't get the memo.
