cifenet Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Simply A. M. A. Z. I. N. G! The tri-axle setup, round fender covers, chrome finishes, and the exposed engine showing off details…. Just incredible work you have shown here. Bravo, Gary! 1

vincen47 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Oh boy, she’s a beauty! That color is so pretty. I would love to see a 1:1 like that at a truck show with that exposed engine. It would be a showstopper! I especially like that you put an air to air system on it. Not something you see on a lot of resto-mod builds, but ya should.

Bainford Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Beautiful Autocar. Cleanly built and a ton of detail. It is clear that a lot of work went into the project. That is an impressive looking model. What paint did you use for the grill shell and aluminum bits under the hood? The effect is very convincing.
happy grumpy Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Wow, this build is just awesome. excellent craftsmanship all around.

The shiny bits under the hood is a mix of polished aluminum tubing and plastic rod/tubing painted with Krylon Premium Mettalic original chrome. I like the look, kinda polished aluminum look but not chrome. I have used this same paint for aluminum wheels on big rigs. The hose clamps are actually chrome tape used for decoration on ladies finger nails .035 wide, but on shrink tubing (the red and black) hoses it will stick for a little while then start to unroll, so I used a small dot of fast drying clear finger nails polish to seal down the tape joint and rolled it to the bottom, still holding several days later. The grill is painted with Revell chrome, I think three coats. Some of the heater/air conditioner lines have 2mm crimp tubes (silver plated) over the hose to facilitate the fittings. Feel free to message me with further questions or pictures of the items. 1 1
