Gary Chastain Posted November 6 Author Posted November 6 I made some chrome bases for these yellow lights (that come in almost every kit). Used my hole punch to make these washers, I think they work, two for the truck, two for the trailer. 6
BK9300 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Looks good, Gary - what particular kit did you take these roto lights from? 1

These come in a ton of kits as generic lighting, I have collected a bunch over the years. I am getting better at organizing left over parts and putting them in organized containers. 3
Gary Chastain Posted November 6 Author Posted November 6 In keeping with the mild custom vision, this how my grill will look. I used a screen material with just a bit more bling. I need to detail the Kenworth badge on grill surround but it has very little detail in the plastic, hoping to find a decal to work with. I have done this type of grill work on many builds and it works well and not so fragile. 6

I am using this tool to punch out those washers, when the punch punches out the washer, the bottom side has a real nice radius, but a slight dimple, which I flat sand smooth, also a quick flat sanding of the bottom just for glueing purpose. 4
Gary Chastain Posted November 6 Author Posted November 6 Got lucky, found a decal sheet with a Kenworth logo for the grill and two silver Kenworth logos for the hood. 6
Rockford Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I feel your pain on the grille situation, very frustrating. Good fix though. Truck looks great as a whole, a real head turner.
Gary Chastain Posted November 7 Author Posted November 7 Couldn’t sleep this morning, so got the hood/grill finished up. 6 1

BK9300 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Your paint really sparkles! The hood/grille definitely looks better, in my opinion. 1
Gary Chastain Posted November 7 Author Posted November 7 Wow, the kit glass is really bad, got it installed, but not happy. Got a lot of fiddling stuff done. Finish up cab then get the motor stuck in and some detailing, not a lot. 5
Gary Chastain Posted November 7 Author Posted November 7 (edited) Quick mock-up, built a ladder/steps to the to put between the drivers side fuel tank and rear fenders, attach to frame. Edited November 7 by Gary Chastain Add pic 5
Gary Chastain Posted Sunday at 05:32 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:32 PM Some progress today, detailing out the air filters 6
BK9300 Posted Sunday at 06:07 PM Posted Sunday at 06:07 PM The chrome tape looks great on your ‘rubber’, 45 connector! 1

It’s finger nail self adhesive tape, it’s about .030 wide, but I do put a very small dab of clear finger nail polish on the end to make sure it stays down. Stuff is hard to handle. 2
BK9300 Posted Sunday at 07:24 PM Posted Sunday at 07:24 PM I hear that! When I ‘taped’ the electrical connectors behind my cab, if I stretched the thin, Tamiya film even little bit, it would curl up into a corkscrew - another few do-overs! 1
Gary Chastain Posted Sunday at 08:14 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:14 PM Little more progress today. Got the air to air condenser built for the turbo. just enough room under the hood. 5
Gary Chastain Posted Sunday at 08:32 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:32 PM Test fit good, now some finish work. 5
Rockford Posted Monday at 07:16 AM Posted Monday at 07:16 AM Beautiful clean build, the paint finish is really impressive. I'd be terrified of messing the paint up during assembly. Glad my paint is always rough. 1
Jürgen M. Posted Monday at 11:07 AM Posted Monday at 11:07 AM (edited) I agree with Steve! Great paint job but very sensitive for tiniest drops of glue or scratches by dust or something! My respect for this tidy job! Edited Monday at 11:08 AM by Jürgen M. 1
