I'm not a pro with painting, I follow everything I've ever read, learned and seen to the letter. I always prime, and before I prime I use comet to lightly scuff the body, and rinse very well. I've learned that paint is only as good as what's underneath it, prep is everything. Light coats. Plenty of time in between if it's a solvent type paint.

Sometimes different brands don't play well with one another, even if they are similar "kinds" of products. Some paints are chemically "hotter" than others (more aggressive solvents) and some primers don't like that. Hopefully this helps you. Good luck, looking forward to your progress on this.
Valvefloat Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 I'm picking a blue for the Z06. I'd like some input. Which one? It will be mixed with a hint of Sparkle Silver.
Funkychiken Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Well, it was a great build until the mishap, now i hope the respray is successful!
johnyrotten Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I tend to like darker blues, the third one looks great to me.

johnyrotten Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) This was my first craft paint-paintjob. I thinned way down, like water thin. 4-5 coats. I somehow managed a pretty good finish, but believe me there's a bit of texture and in this picture there's actually a repair to the paint, just behind the door below the window opening. That vette looks fantastic, and perfect paint is an art all in itself. I'm far from a professional myself with it. Edited April 27 by johnyrotten
