rattle can man Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Does anyone have a trick for getting decals to release from their backing? I tried some older decals last night and even after 5 minutes in warm water they would not release. I was able to carefully rub the paper backing off, but it sure was tediousĀ and I did have a breakage.
rattle can man Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 The decals are from 1979. MPC kit of the El Diablo GMC (El Camino clone). I have one more set for a second try, if I dare.
stavanzer Posted April 27 Posted April 27 A couple of things. 1. Try Hotter Water. 2. Let them sit longer. They did release in the end, so hotter water and longer soaking might help. All I can recommend. 2
Mike 1017 Posted April 29 Posted April 29 I have used one of those Decal Softening Solutions. I put the solution and the decal into a medicine cap and add a couple of drops of hot water. It works for me. Good Luck Mike
