tahiti7 Posted Saturday at 01:05 AM Posted Saturday at 01:05 AM (edited) A good friend that used to build gave my this kit some time ago. I just finished it today. The decals were badly yellowed so I didn't use them. I'll need to find some others. Built box stock except: 1. I added some styrene tubing over the metal trailer axle to make it a larger diameter, 2. added lights and licence plate to trailer, 3. added some weight to the front of the boat to prevent it from tipping the trailer back and off the hitch, 4. added plug wires to the engine, 5. added a gauge cluster decal from the parts bin, 6. added 1/16" wide chrome strip to the truck bed and 7. added a rear panel to the boat interior (which prevented me from orienting the "stuffing box tiller" correctly). Painted Tamiya Coral Green and Pure White. Thanks to Stu111 for tips on detailing the truck bed! Edited Saturday at 01:08 AM by tahiti7 added pic 5
espo Posted Sunday at 03:42 PM Posted Sunday at 03:42 PM Beautiful paint finishes on both the pick-up and the boat. Like how you detailed the boat interior and engine. Wish we had more of these we could build. The pickup chassis detailing and engine look great as well.
johnyrotten Posted Sunday at 06:12 PM Posted Sunday at 06:12 PM Beautiful trio. Awesome work with the woodgrain and details underneath.
stavanzer Posted Sunday at 09:59 PM Posted Sunday at 09:59 PM Laser Sharp Build. Your clean finish, thoughtful detailing and Tu-Tone paint really make an outstanding pair. Good Show.
tahiti7 Posted Sunday at 11:51 PM Author Posted Sunday at 11:51 PM Thank you everyone! When pulling off the masking tape on the boat gunnels it pulled some of the green paint with it leaving a ragged edge. Gonna try to touch that up to make a cleaner edge.
STU111 Posted yesterday at 10:14 AM Posted yesterday at 10:14 AM G’day Steve, I’ve been waiting for you to post this on the forum. Mate, what an awesome looking combo, the details on both the Chev truck and the speedboat are amazing. I love the pickup bed, but I have to ask, what did you use for the polished steel bed strips? Are they foiled? The bed looks very befitting of an immaculate pickup. Top notch. 👍🏻
Zippi Posted yesterday at 11:10 AM Posted yesterday at 11:10 AM That would be pretty kewl to drive to the lake Steve. Nicely done.

I have some 1/32" (1mm) wide chrome pinstriping also but I thought the 1/16" wide looked more to proper scale. It was my first time using a wash on the bed. Thanks again for your tips on using it!
