rattle can man Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) My fellow styrene addict brothers and sisters: I'm thinking this kit will be my next project. First, the tires are kind of melty after sitting for over 20 years. Are there any sources for 1/9 scale motorcycle tires? Second, has anyone built this kit? Just wondering if there are any issues that need addressed while building (aside from interpreting the instructions)? So far, I've only found one build thread (In English as a second language) that stated the exhaust doesn't fit well and the supplied tubing doesn't fit the molded pins Edited June 28 by rattle can man corrected picture
sidcharles Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) unless you want to get a dedicated kit, the struggle might be a long one. a quick search showed me diecast 1:9 is about half-price of a kit. my vicarious experience has shown that guys working in a large scale like this are prone to make their own components. in all honesty, it looked like a metric tonne of work to make a mold and then rtv silicone a tire or two. maybe with all the 3d printing these kids are doing now, you could buy a file and have some whip up a tire. no; two. johnyrotten Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Thinking outside the box, perhaps a o-ring of proper size . You would have to shape the profile of the tire and create the tread,of course. Just a thought. 3d print would most certainly be the better route.
