I had to paint flat black trim on a 06' vette a while back, heres how i did it.

First i did all the needed bodywork.

Then i put a nice thin coat of black primer down, Let that dry, sand repeat.

Apply flat black to needed areas,k let dry, sand, repeat.

Then i let it sit for about a day to let it dry completley, THen i masked off the areas i wanted to keep flat black, a new coat of gray primer(it was going to be a metallic red) sand, repeat, then i let that dry half a day(i got up at like six in the mornin B) ) then i put a very light coat of the red on, gave it a light sanding, then put a little thicker coat on, sanded, then put on a nice thick coat, wet sanded then cleared three times. let it dry for two days, then take the masking tape off. it came out nice. i dont have any pictures because i gave it to a friend that wanted it when he saw it

You really do need to get the body's off that piece of cardboard, its gonna come back to haunt you one day

If your worried the paint can will warp the body, i promise you it wont. you can even use the tamiya spray bottles to hold it up, not only will it keep the paint from building up at the bottom, but it will allow you to apply better coats.

Yes, I don't like resting the bodies on the boards anymore. After clear coating it, I discovered when picking it off the board, it left ugly silver marks on the bottom rear of the side skirts. Another disappointment with this body. Will have to wait till I can afford another kit, and hopefully when I can, they'll still be available. Luckily, this one is not as rare as the 928 was. Luckily also, the 928 was successful despite the missing mirror. Say, I wonder if the mirrors from the 911 would fit the 928? Hmmmmm, would have to give it a try since I still have both 911 mirrors, and since I'm planning on getting another 911 kit.
