Quiet Eric Posted October 5 Posted October 5 (edited) I saw this car a number of years ago at the Mecum Dallas auction and have been captivated by the color combo ever since. For the Stage 1 prototype, a one-off color, Fireglow Pearl with a pearl white interior and (originally) shag carpet. This is my attempt to replicate it. For the color, I went with Petty/STP Red with a pink pearl on top. It's a little too orange and the pearl is really hard to photograph but hey, I know what it's supposed to be. I wish I had replaced the door handles with some from Fireball and wet sanded/polished it but it looks ok in the case. Built from the GSX kit mostly box stock except for shaving the hood tach, getting rid of the chin spoiler, using Goodyear F60-15 tires from Mean Machine Models, and raising the stance out back slightly. This is the first in a series of '68-'72 GM A-bodies I have lined up to build. Edited October 6 by Quiet Eric 25

kelson Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Very cool!,didn't even know there was a prototype out there. 1
meechum68 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Beautiful! Great pairing of body color to the interior color! I have this kit in my stash, I am thrilled to see how it built out. 1
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Good looking Buick. I see a few more A Bodies waiting patiently on the bench. 1
iwantmodels Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Loving this model. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I do wish the companies would consider doing a 1/25 scale model of any Buick GS. It's not even my favorite car by any means, but with all the Cutlass, Chevelle and GTO models, it just feels like something is missing. Same thing goes for the Mercury Cyclone/Montego GT. Again, not my fav car but just would be nice to fill in some holes in the collection. 1
STU111 Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Mate, I’d say mission accomplished. A beautiful job of replicating the original. 👍🏻 1
Mike 1017 Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Very Nice. I remember this car. One of the unique things about it was that it had no tinted glass 1

Reason I ask is I’m looking for something this exact shade for a project that I’m working on right now. Edited October 12 by Keef

I shot it with white Tamiya primer, then the "interior pearl" from Scale Finishes, followed by some Testors Dullcote. 2
